Dragon
Lindsay H.

I have now tried I Heart Sushi twice. They are located over by Hobby Lobby and currently (Dec. 2021) only doing to-go, curbside pickup. The ordering is easy and communication great. They ask what car you will be driving so they can pop outside and bring you your grub. The first time, we ordered Dragon roll, California roll, crunchy crab roll and shrimp hibachi. The dragon was definitely the best roll of the three, with the most textures and flavors. All of the sushi was well-made and fresh. I clearly forgot that the hibachi was disappointing, because I ordered it again on visit #2. Doh! The most recent visit, I ordered the crunchy shrimp roll and chicken hibachi dinner. The sushi was well-made again, but it was simply fried shrimp in rice topped with what seemed like their shrimp sauce perhaps mixed with mayo? It really could have used avocado or cucumber, even roe to add a different texture. It still served its purpose. The hibachi contained chicken, rice in the shape of a heart, and mixed veggies (zucchini, peppers, and onions galore). Both the shrimp during trip 1 and the chicken during visit 2 were abundant. Since these dinners are pricey, it is nice that there is so much protein. This time, the fried rice-which is the kind that is white rice with a bit of soy sauce mixed in- was hard and not many veggies. So bummed. I appreciate that there is a side salad or soup offered with the hibachi dinners. I really, REALLY wish I loved this place...especially since it is so close to home. Next time, I will avoid the hibachi but would still order from the small sushi menu here if I really needed a fix.

Rainbow roll and dragon roll

Very fresh and fun rolls. The mushroom soup is excellent. This is a little pricey but you do get larger rolls. I'd like to see possibly smaller rolls for less just so you can try the flavors without committing to such a huge roll. We will be back!

Moua Roll

One of our all time favorite sushi places: family-owned, always fresh, never too long of a wait! My family is obsessed with the Moua roll, a sweet and lightly spicy crab roll that is crave-worthy! The prices for the traditional rolls feel a liiiittle high to me, but the special rolls are priced for the quality ingredients AND huge portion sizes. (For reference, my husband and I split the Moua roll and each get a mushroom soup and are STUFFED by the end.) The staff is very friendly, and the restaurant is always clean and orderly. Definitely stop in if you are a sushi lover, or just for the perfect cozy-weather meal in their mushroom soup.

Amazing sushi. Wow! Gotta try the tia roll. A little pricey but definitely worth it! I was full after half a roll!

Hmmmm, I really wanted to love this place as it's in my hood, but I was kinda let down…read more The staff when we went were super young and seemed a lot were new so I was trying to be patient. But the sweet girl taking orders didn't really know what she was doing and put in our order a bit wrong. The couple in front of us had their order messed up too. The interior of the place wasn't that inviting or clean, but we opted to eat in anyway. But IF we go back that won't be happening. My husband got a basic cheese pizza because that's how he judges all pizza places the first time around. It was just OK to him. I got the pickle chips since they were 'breaded in-house' and the BBQ Burger. The pickle chips were so over-seasoned and salty I couldn't even eat them - and I LOVE salt. What a shame. The only redeeming thing was the burger and fries. While the burger didn't have what it was supposed to on it and you don't get the option on the temperature of the meat, it was still a good burger. The fries were also super crispy and fluffy inside. So pretty hit-and-miss for me. I'm going to have to think twice before I go back.

While they DO have hibachi…read moregoodies that can be served on a specialty pizza, note that most of their menu is served as individual, more traditional items (like hibachi, a burger, or pizza...not all meshed together). This place was a bit of a hike for us but so worth it for the delicious pizza. We ordered a pepperoni pizza, garlic knots, and deluxe hibachi that comes with beef, chicken, and shrimp and a side salad and soup. If we were rating this place on the pizza and knots alone-5 stars all day long. The crust is so light, chewy and flavorful. The garlic knots actually remind me of the super unique rolls at the local Brazilian steakhouse. They have an outer chew but the inside is so soft that it almost melts in your mouth. The hibachi was...okay. My first bite of the entire meal was the beef and it was unfortunately so chewy that it was inedible. I crossed my fingers it was just that one piece. Nope. Our family ended up discarding every piece of beef, which was an expensive disappointment. The shrimp and chicken were tasty but overshadowed by the sea of onions and mushrooms. We were grateful for the salad and soup, although we couldn't distinguish what the soup was meant to be. My kiddo asked what the hot, brown salt water was. :-) The ginger salad was iceberg lettuce with a very thick, chunky ginger dressing. If that's your thing, rock on! For hibachi, we will probably stick with Fuji. In general, we will be back for the pizza soon and look forward to trying the burgers, which we've heard are great.

There was even a little robot that delivered some people's drinks across the restaurant. The food was pretty good. I ordered dumplings and spring rolls for appetizers before my noodle bowls and they were okay. The dumplings were kind of dry I guess, and too black so my daughter who normally loves dumplings did not like them. The wrapper of the spring rolls was thicker like an egg roll so it wasn't as light and crispy as the spring rolls I prefer. The popcorn chicken was not super hot when it came out so maybe that's why I don't think it was great. It was a little rubbery and dry. My kids did not like it and just ate the extra plan noodles we got. The ramen was good though, the spicy ramen wasn't too spicy. I could have bumped it up a notch but I was afraid I wouldn't be able to eat it all if I chose the hottest hot so we just got the average to try. Overall this place is near our house and a fun place to sit on and eat so we may be back, but there are better ramen places if you're into just the food or doing take out. I am giving them a 4 because of the ambience being a 5 and the food 3-3.5.

Tomo Poke Bowl had some good reviews so we gave it a try. The most difficult part of this experience was trying to find the business. It is located in a large commercial strip mall with Sunago Coffee being the flagship business in the very front of the complex, facing Hardin Valley Road. The building is on the southeast corner of Hardin Valley and Valley Vista Roads, and Tomo Pole Bowl is tucked into the south west corner and faces Valley Vista Road. Now that the directions are out of the way, for the food. Fantastic! It was unbelievable good. Fresh. Colorful. Delicious. and the sushi chef, Michael, is an artist. We sat at the sushi bar and watched as he meticulously crafted several sushi entrees, each dollop, drop and slice of yummy goodness artistically arranged. So appetizing. Almost too good to eat they were so pretty. We ordered the Hardin Valley Roll and the Rainbow Roll (both pictured in this review). Michael even threw in a free appetizer of friend salmon skins because it was our first time. Soooo good! They have a great beer selection, friendly staff and the restaurant was clean. This will definitely be on our list of repeats.
