The rooms are all ensuite and air-conditioned, and I found the beds comfy. Those at the back are rather quieter, not that Boulevard Victor Hugo gets a lot of late-night traffic. Free wifi access is provided, and the TV has BBC World News (and German and Spanish channels). The location is pretty good: It's a five minute walk into the historic centre of town, with several bars and restaurants located next the hotel. There's the normal Ibis buffet breakfast on offer at EUR7.50, or you can go to one of the bars nearby for a coffee and croissant if you prefer. On our visit the bar was closed for renovation, though I can't see why you'd want to use it with so many authentic French bars nearby. Friendly staff who speak some English. There's a car park at the rear, and it's a 15 minute uphill walk from the railway station. The bus and trolleybus stops in Place Winston Churchill are only a few minutes away.

The manager/owner? spent much time and effort trying to help us. We were so very grateful for her efforts, as well as for a clean and comfortable place to spend the night. We highly recommend!

Jacqueline Leymarie a su créer autour du diamant noir tout un tas de recettes qui ont fait sa réputation. Les menus du chef, Pierre Corre, ambassadeur de la cuisine périgourdine, varient en fonction des saisons, mais il fait toujours la part belle au foie gras, au gibier et bien sûr à la truffe : truffe en chausson ou en brouillade, magret de canard à la véritable sauce Périgueux, truffée bien évidemment.
