An Incredible bargain. One of the biggest advantage was the inner car park. My car was parked in a…read morecovered garage. The car park was closed in the night so that it was delightful to know my car was safe. The bedrooms were quiet. Access to the main road (N10) is very quick as it is something like 5 minutes from the N10 road (road from Bordeaux to Poitiers). Wifi was working. That's not obvious even in expensive hotels. The Hotel crew were very welcoming and warm which was a plus. By the way, i booked only with no credit cards number. For me that was the most important. By the past i had issue while traveling in Europe. I am happy not to spread my credit card numbers as i travel a lot.

The particular exhibition April to December 2018 anticipates the centenary of the end of World War I, which will be commemorated November 11. The paper sculptures of WWI soldiers and the women they left behind are in the exhibition space. Not to be missed is the 12-minute film (English subtitles) created from these paper sculptures in a masterful stop action animated film. It is charming as well as tragic. A nice small boutique includes colorful graphics from the era when the factory rolled out cigarette papers after it became fashionable in 1850 France to "roll your own." The machinery on the first floor of the mill is signed, and there are some English translations. One sign notes the "master of the paper," Jacques Brejoux, who is in residence at another historic mill in the countryside: Moulin du Verger. He is still actively working on handmade paper and book restoration. (Call for an appointment to tour that mill.)
A hotel restaurant with great views of the La Dronne river and surrounding scenery…read more We got here around 6:00 on a Wednesday evening. Outside seating was half full. We snatched a table close to the Watermill. Our plan was to start with some cocktails and possibly have dinner after. 3 ordered Champagne and I ordered a Champagne cocktail. Comprised of Cognac, Cointreau, Angostura Bitters & Champagne. Something different, refreshing and delicious! The Champagne was enjoyed also. Great atmosphere and vibe for a cocktail. Watching the flow of the lazy river and enjoying beautiful Brantome. Our server started out strong but somehow disappeared after bringing us our drinks which was a disappointment. We ended up paying in front at reception which is the normal process. Our server did thank and acknowledge us as we were leaving so semi recovery. We inquired about dinner but they were booked. Looked like it could be good. So reservations are recommended for dinner. Great spot for a drink with a view!

Rooms are obliterated with a single strident hue - purple walls, carpet, ceiling and bed linen. Blue or pink in other rooms. It's not restful, but as the bed is impossibly uncomfortable you won't sleep anyway. The bathrooms are typically cramped, when I tried to use the soap in the teeny tiny shower my elbow turned the water off, and I'm not a large person. The location in a beautiful square on the historic plateau is ideal, with easy strolls to bars and restaurants and free parking. The facade of the hotel is gorgeous. Take a photo and stay elsewhere.
