We booked a suite that was quite large and had a beautiful bathtub. This hotel has such warmth and character and you really feel like your stepping back into time. The lobby area is very historic feeling and is the perfect place to cozy up to the fire and have a glass of burgundy. The staff went our of their way to be helpful, particularly Jean Claude. This hotel is a large part of the reason we fell head over heels for Beaune.

The wine list is extensive with four DRC bottles in their cellar. The hotel has its own cellar where the wine tasting is individual only (no group tastings) and tailored towards all levels of tasting. The bartender is very nice and the hotel owner hangs out at night to welcome you and knows the details of your stay. They arrange to call domaines as well to help you with wine tastings.

It was so relaxing in the leather arm chairs we enjoyed our night caps before heading to bed. The hotel room was nicely decorated slightly got away with the datedness. My wife fell in love with this place and vowed to come back. The hotel is an old abbey and it rambles on. There are parlors, a bar, sitting rooms tucked away everywhere. The rooms are spacious and quaint, but with modern bathrooms. We were transported into another time and place and found the whole experience quite relaxing. Our dinner was exemplary. Each course looked beautiful and tasted even better. Some of the flavor combinations showed real inventiveness, such as the fish crudo with squash broth and many other little tastes on the plate. The pork main course was beautiful and the flavors were divine. Our wine was wonderful also, the list is large and fairly priced (at least for an expensive restaurant). The chef came out afterwards and even came to the front desk to recommend lunch for us the following day in another part of France. (unfortunately it was closed) Absolutely wonderful!

It's definitely the little touches that adds to our experience. They placed water bottles and locks for the bikes. One of the highlights is definitely their bistro restaurant! Do try to eat at their bistro. The pork chop was one of the best I had! Their other fine dining restaurant (which we did not go to) is Michelin starred. Areas of improvement: 1. Their "king" bed is really uncomfortable. They pushed two twin beds together which suck when you're lying right on the crack. The sheets are not luxurious for a 5-star. 2. No wifi in our room. However my sister's room in room 54 had wifi. 3. For a 5-star, you really shouldn't be decorating with FAKE flowers!!!! My sister and I were pretty shocked by this. Don't get me wrong, the inside lobby was tastefully decorated but the fake flowers really depreciates the level of luxury especially if it's a "luxury" hotel. Get real flowers stat! 4. No pool or jacuzzi! Other than that, this hotel should be commended by their services. If you are in Beaune and don't mind a 7 min ride to the center of town, stay here!
