The hotel toiletries smell great and there is an in-room Nespresso machine with different pods. The hotel has an excellent breakfast buffet downstairs with plenty of options including pastries and charcuterie. As it was February, the pool was not available but understandable as it is winter. The gym is serviceable, but has limited equipment. The hotel location is away from the hubbub of Nice, which is great if you do not like street noise. But it does mean a drive or tram ride is needed to get to the main attractions in Nice. Still, I rate this as my favorite hotel stay in Nice because of its sea view.

Flecken auf den Teppichen, ein muffiger Geruch und das Bad war so alt, dass ich mir nicht sicher war, ob es jemals renoviert wurde. Es gab keine Mischbatterie in der Badewanne, und die Rohre waren ziemlich laut. Die Bettwäsche war defekt und staubig, wurde aber am 2. Tag ausgetauscht. Aber was hier gar nicht geht... man bekommt keine Handtücher! An unserem ersten Tag hatten wir nur 2 ganz dünne Badetücher. Danach gab es dazu noch einen Duschteppich. Aber Handtücher existieren hier nicht. Sauberkeit: Wenn man Staubflocken liebt, ist man hier richtig. Der Boden war nicht richtig gesaugt, und im Bad fand ich Haare, die definitiv nicht von mir stammten. Einfach eklig. Einmal haben wir das Treppenhaus genommen. Das war ein Schock - Dreck, Schimmel, Löcher in den Wänden... Service: Nicht sehr gastorientiert und überfordert. Das Check In und Check Out waren in Ordnung, aber im Restaurant war die Bedienung nicht so gut. Obwohl es nicht viel zu tun gab, standen die Kellner an der Wand oder am Empfangstresen und haben die Tische gar nicht zwischendurch abgeräumt. Auch wurde man nicht nach einem Refill für den Kaffee gefragt, da musste man selbst aktiv werden. Frühstück: Das sogenannte Frühstück war in Ordnung. Die Auswahl war nicht sehr groß, aber angemessen. Nicht so ganz 4 Sterne, wie ich es kenne. Dazu hat man hier mit Speisewärmer gearbeitet, die eine extreme Hitze erzeugt haben. Am 1. Tag erschien ich in einem Sweater (Winterzeit), was sich als ein Fehler erwiesen hat. Ich ging ganz verschwitzt aus dem Restaurant raus. Lage: Die Lage ist zwar zentral, aber das ist auch der einzige Pluspunkt. Fazit: Für den Preis gibt es definitiv bessere Hotels in Nizza. Ich würde niemandem empfehlen, hier zu übernachten. Das Beau Rivage ist ein Reinfall auf ganzer Linie. Aber schaut euch einfach die Bilder an.

It was 35' outside when we first checked into this hotel. We were really happy with its location,…read moreso close to food, shopping, the train station and the water front. Even though you are in the heart of the city, the room was very quiet, but very small. The bathroom was also tiny and had a swinging door that swung into the bathroom so you had to step into the shower to swing the door open enough to get out of the bathroom. The toilet rocked back on forth on the floor when it was sat on and made terrible banging and crunching noises. When we tried to use the dual voltage receptacle in the bathroom, the 230 volt side did not work at all. When I went down stairs to inquire at reception if we could change rooms due to the broken items (AC, bathroom outlet, toilet), we were told absolutely not. I remarked that the room was unbearably hot and the thermostat on the wall had no markings to say what it was set at and it went round and round in both directions without doing anything. The young lady at reception remarked "That's impossible." I assured her it wasn't and invited her to come and see for herself. Of course, she refused, popped into a room behind the reception desk and promptly handed me an oscillating table top fan and said "that's all we can do, take it or leave it." The fact she had it so readily available tells me there may have been more fans in that room...... I took it. We went for a walk the next day and were out for most of the day on a walking tour. On our return we found the main sliding doors into the building were out of order and we had to enter through a small door to the side of the building. When we went to return to our 'sauna' suite, we found one of the elevators was also out of order. ?? The one redeeming item of this hotel other than the quiet room, was the breakfast. There was a really good variety of cereals, breads, pastries and crepes along with bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs and the option to boil your own eggs. One day beans another boiled fingerling potatoes. The coffee was from a multi function machine, but it was good and hot. In all the breakfast was really good, but the breakfast was not good enough to compensate for the broken down, poorly designed hot, humid room with the bed as hard as a slab. Thankfully, we were in and out in two nights, and thoroughly enjoyed the city of Nice, despite the disappointing accommodations and service.

We prepaid for 2 nights on the Citi travel site, paying about $100 per night during the offseason. It is considered a 4-star hotel per the France Hotel standards, and thus was charged an additional tax ($13 for two people for the the two nights). This can't be charged at time of booking since the rate depends on the date of stays (and the rate can fluctuate), but is collected at check-in. The room was very large per European standards. One interesting tidbit is that the toilet is in a area than the shower/sink separated by the room itself. It truly is a water closet, and I don't ever remember staying in a hotel that was set-up like that. We got a chance to talk to the night clerk when we checked out, and that even though the hotel is named after our 32nd president, he never stayed here. The clerk educated us in stating that all Best Western hotels in Europe are named after an American term, and that it makes it easy for folks to know which Best Western they are talking about. The building had a history of being the headquarters of the U.S. Navy back in the day. Pros: - like other Best Westerns, English was spoken by the staff and everyone was gracious and helpful. - King size bed (Two twins put together) Good mattress. - Location is excellent. It is within walking distance from the Nice train station (15 minute walk even with luggage), and also close to both the Nice downtown beach and Old Town Nice. - individual air conditioning units - bathrooms have towel warmers - There is a large bar on the first floor where they will refill your reusuabe bottle with filtered water. Cons - It had a really small elevator, probably only space for 2 people or 1 person with luggage. - Tough place to park or drop off your luggage - Breakfast was not included in the rate- - like most other European hotels, no facilities for exercise and no pool This was probably the nicest hotel we stayed at, during our European vacation. They use the room keys made of bamboo, and we kept it as a souvenir. It was of great value, and the location made it easy for us to see everything we wanted during our 2 night stay.

Please take them to our room." which he promptly did but for the price, location and lack of service, unimpressed. We actually moved to a nicer hotel during our stay. She s an expat from Paris and that s where the name of the hotel came from. This is a great little mom and pop hotel. It s very comfortable and clean. It s located a few blocks away from the train station. That s a major plus if you re traveling by train. Nearby, you ll find a pizza place, a very good Chinese restaurant and a few small shops. It s a bit of a walk to downtown but we didn't mind at all since it s a super nice walk either by the beach front or the interior street with lots of small shops. We opted for the continental breakfast for a small fee. It s very simple and convenient. Also, a big plus is the air conditioning in each room. Keep that in mind for the summer season. Book directly with the hotel to get an even better deal than the ones you could find with the major travel sites. I understand they take quite a lot in fees. Bon voyage!
