Les Salons Hoche - Inside the bridal party suites where we got ready. There was a ton of space for bride, groom, and a wedding party of 18!

    Les Salons Hoche

My wife and I got married at Les Salons Hoche in October 2019. We selected the venue without having…read morevisited in person, and instead relied on photos/reviews and the help of our main contact, Guiliana. The venue was absolutely beautiful. We had the Haussman apartments for the bridal parties to get ready hours before the ceremony which were large and well decorated, perfect for pictures. Our first look took place in a beautiful Parisian courtyard with our bridal party looking on from balconies above us. Les Salons Hoche provided us with a 1950's Rolls Royce and a driver to take us around Paris for photos (Bir-Hakeim overlooking the Eiffel Tower, and a side road with the Arc de Triomphe in the background). When we returned, our wedding took place on the rooftop, enclosed in glass and beautifully decorated. After the ceremony, we moved downstairs to another room for the cocktail hour with extra space in the courtyard. The reception took place in a beautiful, marble-floored room called Etoile. Every little detail, whether we discussed it or not, was perfectly done. They host a lot of events there, so when you visit before the wedding (we were there 4 days before ours) there is lots of work going on. On the day of the wedding though, the location is completely transformed with tasteful details (white curtains, flowers, candles, etc.). The food was amazing. We upgraded our food package (to "Prestige") and it exceeded expectations. Our guests, who mainly come from New York City and attend lots of weddings, raved about the quality/flavor/abundance of food during cocktail hour and during dinner. For dinner, we had the salad with lobster and mango (excellent), Beef Tenderloin (very well cooked unlike most wedding food), and Assortment of Cheeses (you're in France, of course, this is good :) ) , and the Cake (American style with strawberry inside - this was a huge hit with our guests). This was all made possible because of the hard work and excellent communication of Guiliana. She was amazing to work with and spent hours with us discussing the venue, food, timing, and all the small details. We worked with her across multiple time zones (9 hour time difference) and she always made herself available to work with us. Wedding planning can be stressful, especially from afar, but Guiliana made this an enjoyable experience for us. The true test of the success of a wedding comes after it's all over. When I asked my wife "what would you change about the wedding day", her response was "not a single thing",

Perfectly located just blocks away from Champs-Élysées and next to several chic hotels, the space is a fabulous. The décor is classically Parisian chic with polished marble and glittering chandeliers. But what really sets it apart is the food and the service. It's a family-run business and you can really tell they're on top of things. I can still remember the steak with foie gras and the lemon tart...to die for!! All the waiting staff was super professional and warm--definitely different than the rest of Paris. Hopefully I'll get invited back to some other celebration!

Châteauform' Château de Ronqueux - Salle de réunion d'affaires

    Châteauform' Château de Ronqueux

Last week, I experienced quite the opposite: one of the locations of Chateauform', the Chateau Ronqueux. Located at about 1,5 hrs from Paris, this beautiful castle is just the place for some quality time away with your colleagues. If you want to combine work and fun, without the distractions of a bustling city for example or the office too close to "get away from it all" this is the place. The location features several houses on the grounds which comprise of bedrooms and meeting rooms, the latter equipped with everything you need for a successful seminar/conference/teambuilding, whatever the purpose. The chateau itself comprises a few bedrooms but mostly serves as the breakfast, lunch, and aperitif/dinner-and-party-location. The food is excellent by the way, so is the service. It is advisable to check on who uses the castle at the same time or whether the castle has the exact (or approx.) number of bedrooms you need, as you will then enjoy exclusivity. You can use the rooms as if you were living here, moving between the different areas, and partying after a long day - using the open bar to your heart's content. With so much available to use on the grounds (bikes, archery etc.) you can meet, learn and play as much as you like, with the food supply seemingly never ending. The landlords are always live-in couples who serve as your hosts but quietly keep in the background, just a call away if needed. Chateauform' really is an amazing concept - founded by J. Horovitz who has experienced many seminars himself and thus knew exactly what was missing. Although quite costly (delegate packages vary from castle to castle), the all-inclusive package has the huge advantage of knowing exactly what your conference is going to cost - before you have even had it. If this is not peace of mind I don't know what is. I hope to be able to experience Chateauform' again - in any of their locations in Europe - or even booking one myself..

We arrived early as planned so we could visit the Palace of Versailles that day before checking out and going to Paris. There were no rooms available at check-in unless we upgraded our room for an additional 60 Euros or something like that. We usually just a a free upgrade but we wanted to get moving so we paid for the upgrade. We then asked for directions to the Palace and were given the very quick version which took us in the wrong direction and we ended up walking way out of the way and almost missed our tour. The food and everything about this hotel is expensive!! It's a Waldorf. Is it a good value? I think that depends on what each person values. It really as not to me. The rooms were gorgeous and the toiletries were Aesop which is expensive. The hotel is two buildings, one that is really nice and one that is okay. There are not many restaurants around so it's easy to just eat at the hotel yet there are not a ton of options and not one is moderately priced. The breakfast buffet which comes with Diamond status was excellent. The hotel is truly convenient for a night if you are visiting the palace.
