This place is the WORST. Turned up in the small hours having booked 3 twin rooms. The receptionist was eagerly waiting for us with arms folded, having obviously received some devastating news regarding a member of his family and a group of people matching our exact descriptions. 2 key cards per room - are you insane!?! get fucked mate. Got upstairs to be greeted by the smell of sewage on the first floor. Imagine my surprise to discover the smell in the corridor was actually coming from my room. Years of smoking have rendered my already poor sense of smell almost null and void, but the stench that hit me on opening the door made myself and my lucky roommate for the evening gag and immediately turn retreat. Back down in the reception our new friend seemed to be expecting us, as when we informed him about the stench he magically produced a can of air-freshener within a second so that we could enjoy the smell of shitty chemicals and human waste together. No other rooms available, not my problem, not going to wake the manager up - it's 2 in the morning, he's asleep. Not going to give you my name - this is not my problem and actually I'm a bit pissed off with you fancy-pants foreigners wanting to sleep without the risk of contracting a disease. I have actually stayed here once before and remember the breakfast being absolutely hilarious. Fuck this place, fuck that guy and probably see you again in the next 12 months in your conveniently placed shit pit with secure parking.

Rooms are the size of a normal person's closet and of the three rooms I've been in, they all wreak of smoke. Not subtle smoke they've tried to mask; bad bad smoke. Staff is friendly. The food is edible. And there is a coffee machine in the lobby that serves something that falls just east of horrible, but still palatable and warms the stomach. It is Ibis. Usually they're terrible. The only food served is for the breakfast buffet so you have to walk to the restaurants next door if you don't want to drive. Now let's get to the good and the bad about this hotel. I had a room on the first floor at the end of the hallway. The hallway smelled like sewer gas or a toilet backup. I think it is because the laundry room door is open and the smell is allowed to waft into the hallway. The room itself was a typical European hotel. However, I was a little surprised that they had provided throwaway flip flops for use in the shower. Are these for OCD people or are you trying to tell me that you don't clean the rooms very well? It was untypically warm during my stay (25 C) and they had not yet turned on the AC so it was a little uncomfortable. Now let's get to the really bad. I scheduled a wake up call for 7am because I had a flight later that day. No wake up call....I ended up waking up on my own at 7:35am. Fortunately I made it to the airport on time. When I was racing to check out the lady apologized but I really don't think she cared. I know there is a language barrier and my French is non-existent but please don't miss a wake up call. The gentleman the night before wrote my wake up call down in a notebook...not a very sophisticated system. No wonder I never received a call. There were very few guests staying here...it almost felt like the movie "The Shining" when I first arrived. Slowly some guests started to arrive and there were finally ten cars in the lot. I understand why the other hotel was completely sold out and the Kyriad had vacancy. Next time I am in Compiègne I will make sure I stay at the other place.
