Prior to my consultation, I was told I would have an x-ray, as Dr. Nowicki wouldn't touch a…read morepatient without knowing what was going on. Being that I've had back pain my entire life, I was a bit curious as to what he might find, so I agreed. Well, even though I had insurance that would pay for the imaging, his office told me I had to pay for it in full. This I reluctantly did. In addition to this, he said I had to attend one of his 30 minute health classes, which turned out to just be a sales pitch for an expensive detox program he sells. A week later I had my second appointment to get adjusted as he found nothing on the x-ray. I was shocked when he asked me to remove my clothing all but my under garments. I've seen dozens of chiropractors and I've never been asked to do this. I asked him why? He said it was so he could feel what is going on so as to give an appropriate adjustment. I said I wasn't comfortable with this. He proceeded to insist that I at least remove my shirt. Again, I said I wasn't comfortable removing my clothing. I was wearing a thin short sleeved polo and a pair of thin Capri yoga pants. To do this day I don't see why he couldn't work with that. Only when I was getting up to leave the appointment did he agree to adjust me with all my clothes on. He did very little, and didn't even go near the area of pain in my back. When I mentioned it, he replied that he couldn't do more unless I removed my clothing. I left, and didn't reschedule ever again. To compound everything, his office tried to not reimburse me the $380.00 I paid for the imaging after I received a notice from the insurance that they had paid for it. It took 3 months, and sending my very angry husband in to get our money back. It was the most uncomfortable and creepiest experience I've ever had the misfortune of with a chiropractor. There are many chiropractors in my area, and I encourage people to go to any one of them, and stay clear of Dr. Nowicki.
