Several hundred people were fed and entertained in this stunningly redone mill building. The way that this venue was refinished and decorated was absolutely high end. I lingered with a glass, reading my book while soulful music softly played, quiet conversations among the few other patrons drifted in and out of my consciousness, and the plaintive cries of seagulls outside were occasionally audible. Whimsical posters dressed up the plain but cozy room (a rabbit in a pink bathrobe holding a bottle of champagne and divers leaping into a wine glass). I could have spent all afternoon there, reading and sipping. But I had places to be. If I stayed longer I might have tried some of the food. It's more in the line of light snacks than an actual meal, mostly cold, but they were more interesting than the standard charcuterie plate offered by similar venues, and I liked that they listed the country or state of origin of everything. For dessert, how about a slice of cheesecake from Chill's of Warren, RI - or a flight of 3 for $21! Beer lovers, don't fear Coastal Bubbles. Menu listed five, all of which I've never heard of, from Connecticut, New Hampshire, Maine, and Portugal, sure to interest the connoisseur. The menu that day included 25 wines by the glass. Their high-tech "Coravin System" keeps the open bottles fresh, and my Croation Matsuško was flawless in that respect. Port lovers might try the "100 Years Of Port Flight": the 10, 20, 30, and 40 year vintages of Van Zellers. I'll be doing that next time, with the cheesecake.

The docent that day, Louise gave us a lovely tour of the downstairs and we got to tour the upstairs by ourselves with some very thorough pamphlets. The mansion is very well preserved. The information presented by the museum is very thoughtful and informative. It is all done very well. My favorite thing though was the bathrooms. I loved them. I find myself daydreaming. About showering in the black and white bathroom. Which is not an experience that is available to anyone... But I wish it were There is also a gorgeous rose garden on the property. Very enjoyable. We were there for about two hours but I could have stayed a bit longer. You might have to park a short distance and walk to the house but it is all worth it

Everything about their food was perfect from the deliciously pickled appetizers to the main course as well as the smoke grilled preparation and presentation was awe-inspiring. From the beginning we could tell that Sally was no ordinary caterer. She went far out to her way to accommodate our budget, took our wishes into account at every turn and made wonderful suggestions on the meal choices. In the end, it was truly all about satisfying us and our gathering of 130 family members and friends, every one of whom are still raving about the food and service a month later. Having done past events at the location (The Overbrook House near Cape Cod, MA) Sally and her group were able to aid in logistics and even helped with the set up of the chairs for the ceremony and in the reception tent to ensure that the day ran smoothly. Sally is largely responsible for the "success" of the evening. She absolutely knows her stuff and her positive attitude is infectious. Her team was truly wonderful and we couldn't have asked for anything more. We cannot say enough about how much we appreciate having someone like her involved and consider her to be a part of our extended family. Smoke & Pickles uses only the best, locally-sourced foods and provides the absolute highest possible level of service with true genuine feeling. Top that off with their uncanny ability to make every event feel as unique as the participants and it's easy to see why we would recommend them to anyone who needs catering for any event! You can tell when someone really enjoys their work as it shows through in every detail of their actions. That aptly applies to the Smoke & Pickles team. We are forever grateful. Beyond creating an incredibly bespoke and personal menu for us (with plenty of GF and veggie options!) Sally was instrumental to the process. She helped us book all of our rentals (tent, flatware, plates, tables, etc) and she was always there for advice and to offer suggestions based on her experience. She met with us at PEAK to pick out our tableware, she gave us great suggestions for anything else we needed to rent, coordinated all the setup both on Friday and our actual wedding day, and was so prompt in her replies via email or phone. We could not have pulled it off without her expertise! We would have ended up spending a lot more money overall if we didn't have her guidance. And of course the food was amazing. I loved the fact that it was all local and in-season! Sustainability was very important when picking our vendors, so I appreciated the attention to detail, the composting, and support of local farmers and growers. Plus we got to take home the leftovers! Win/win/win. Lastly, the whole team truly cares about the process. They don't just throw food in pans on the table, but craft such gorgeous tablescapes that look like they fit in perfectly with the rest of the event. Handmade pottery, flowers, cutting boards...its beautiful to look at, AND to eat! If you need a caterer to deliver the BEST food and support your wedding or event - Smoke and Pickles is your team.

I came here with a big group (40), and the owners set up a private space for us in the basement. It was so lovely, the table already set with place settings and glasses, string lights in a corner, a plate of appetizers that went around the room. Since it had been prearranged what we would eat, I couldn't tell you the names of the dishes, but I know everything was delicious: from the fried fish to the chicken in a heavenly sauce to the rice and steamed vegetables (I didn't realize rice could taste so good!). We ended up with vegetarians whom we didn't know about, and the owner immediately arranged for a vegetable filled pasta to be brought to them. I highly recommend coming here, particularly if you are looking for a Portuguese restaurant that makes you feel at home! Based on all of my friends there who *are* Portuguese or Brazilian, it reminded them of home.
