I do not live in LaPlace any longer but use Hymel's whenever I have a special occasion. They never disappoint and recently came through for me on short notice. I placed an order for a funeral the weekend before the service, which was on Monday. I added a special request,which was to include a large cooking spoon...which I wasn't sure if that request could occur due to the short notice. The flowers arrangement arrived with the spoon! I wanted to order a floral arrangement for my son and daughter-in-law after having their baby. I explained to the owner, who was nice, that I had problems with other florists in the past and had hoped I would never have issues again when ordering flowers. I ordered with the designer, and she was very fast and acted like she was being bothered. The arrangement was delivered and was nothing like the photo on the web site. The owner had explained that they could not do to the exact photo, understandable, and that all of the flowers were in stock. The website floral was full and beautiful, and the one delivered was skimpy. The web site was nice and rounded, like it took some time to design, not this one....it appeared the designer just threw in some flowers, no designing, a rough copy of the photo and it was delivered to my son and daughter-in-law. After ordering the more expensive one, I thought they would have taken the time to make it look nice.....did not happen. I called and told them that I would not being using their service in the future. read more

I would like start with I was raised in the River Parishes and thinking let's give business to our local small business. After this week I don't feel the same. I called Hymel's Florist Tuesday the 5th the day Jessica passed away (and if you are a local of the River Parishes you know who I was talking about just by her first name) I spoke to Allison and told her that my husbands godchild (I gave Allison her full name) passed away and the visitation and funeral will be 2 days, gave her the time, dates and the location. She was so glad I called on that day because she was putting in a order. I specially told her that her favorite color was PURPLE. I wanted to check on the casket cover to make sure we could get the right color. I said purple she said lavender which was totally fine. She also said would you like the lavender with pink tips they are more abundant and open beautifully. I said yes perfect. So I check to see what to order and called back and ordered the lavender with pink tips. While on the phone with Melissa she asked Allison if she could get this order and she said she would try. I also asked if they could call me back to let me know either way which casket cover color we would be getting. They never called me back. I had to call Thursday to find out what they got for us . This made me kinda worried if we were gonna get what she said they had. I also placed a spray order from us in purple. The thing that got me was when other people called they told them they got a number of orders and they did not know if they had enough in the purple. They also told people who called to order that it's a 2 day visitation/funeral that the flowers may not hold up in the heat because the weather was turning warmer. My opinion is if the flowers they are using can't hold for 2 days what kinda flowers are you using ; it can't be fresh. So for me to call days ahead did not help the community from ordering from a local business. I don't know the exact number of visitors for the Friday night visitation ( it was said to be 700 people ) and the second day ( it was said to be 200 people ). Sad sad sad business .... I called today to see if a last minute delivery was available. The sweet lady that helped me on the phone squeezed me in and delivered the most beautiful plant to my in-laws. Thank you soooo much for the exceptional customer service and the beautiful plant!!! Def will use and recommend Hymel's Florist again!!! read more

I ordered two flower arrangements totaling $99. I gave specific directions for the color of the flowers. When I went to pick the flowers up, one of the arrangements was completely wrong. When I asked to see the order form where the directions were written, I saw that what I said had been written down, the directions were just not followed. I was never offered a discount or to get any of my money back. All I was asked was "what do you want me to do?" They did offer to remake the incorrect arrangement and pick up the new one later that afternoon, but that was not an option. It's such a shame because the flowers were beautiful. Unfortunately, I will never order from this place again. read more

Called Hymels she (sorry cant recall her name) (very nice indeed) was a great help getting an order of balloons & flowers out to my brother-inlaw for his 50th on same day. Using silver & black balloons & of course 2 of the mylars along with a fall arraignment of flowers. I would give them a full appreciation but I am out of state therefore I havent seen the items and dont how they came out yet. However deliver, customer service, were enough to make me feel very comfortable with the rating I did give them. Once I see pictures I will come back & change it accordingly. the worst so called florists/humans ever!!!! i had to give 1 star because there are no negative stars. i was put on hold 7 times, yelled at, told that i couldn't order certain flowers, told the party (this was for a funeral) had enough sprays that i should just take a plant, spoken to in a very angry, abusive way and when one of them (the owner) finished spitting out her awful words, she turned me over to the designer (?). i've never used this florist before and never, ever, ever will again. when i finally told them to just do whatever they could i came to the point of the card. i was told the card would say with sympathy, i said no i have something i'd like the card to say, she said it's a little card and refused to put any of my words on the card. these women should be in another line of business, maybe killing kittens or bunnies. awful, awful, awful & this is an example of the bad part of southern small towns. read more
