In the process they damaged a $1000 century plant and did not figure any consideration for that as for as reducing my bill. They also damaged and/or destroyed numerous other plants/shrubs. I know the contract basically says that some damage may occur and they are not responsible but they did not seem to care whether they damaged my plants or not. After I refused to pay them the full amount for their "services", the company owner, a big overbearing burly guy, showed up and got in my face. I thought he was going to whip my butt! He was very intimidating. I finally agreed to pay the balance upon completion of them putting sod down in my torn-up yard, one-half of which I had to pay ($500). The neighbors whose yard the tree was growing in FINALLY agreed to have it cut down completely and had chosen Ferguson's Tree Care to do the job. However due to the way the tree was growing, they needed access through my yard as most of the tree was growing over my fence and leaning into my property. Having had a lot of problems with Entergy's chosen tree companies damaging my driveway by bringing in huge cherry picker machines/trucks over the years due to power outages caused by this tree, I was very concerned as to what kind of equipment this company would be using before giving them access to my driveway and backyard to cut down this problem tree. Mr Carl Ferguson who is the owner of this company was very professional and explained what type of equipment they utilized which wouldn't cause damage to my new driveway and/or backyard lawn since they would have to come way into my backyard up to the fence line to cut down at least the top half of the tree leaning over onto my property line. Once they had it cut back enough they would then go into the neighbor's yard to cut it down to the ground. Mr Carl explained that they have large heavy duty pads they put over the grass to help with weight distribution of the equipment. As promised he brought in equipment that was large enough to do the job, but not so large as to damage my new driveway or lawn. His crew arrived promptly early in the morning, with lots of workers and equipment to do the job. Since he was already going to be on my side of the yard to chop down the top half of my neighbor's tree infringing on my property, I negotiated a price with Mr Carl to also cut down 2 small dead trees on MY property and also some minor tree trimming to take advantage of his crew while on site for the neighbor's tree issue. His price for my share of the work on my property side was reasonable. I was extremely pleased with the work that they performed and the workman did not twiddle their thumbs...they all worked hard, quickly and professionally. Did a wonderful job of cleaning up too. Blew off my cement areas that had debris and did a great job of raking and collecting all the little leaves and branches that were left on the green spaces. The entire process from the day we requested the estimate until project completion went smoothly. Lead Arborist Jessie Mudge came to our home and provided a verbal estimate on the spot, followed up by the formal written detailed estimate and insurance certificate. Melissa was excellent at making sure there was good communication as to project start date since South Louisiana climate and weather can make scheduling a bit tricky in this line of work. We also had them complete a couple of other smaller tree pruning jobs on our property because we were very satisfied with the professionalism, communication, and fair pricing they offered. They were very courteous in terms of making sure trucks were not obstructing the road in our neighborhood, and they left our property clean and tidy at the end of each workday during our 2-day project. Good tree specialists who communicate well and charge a fair price are extremely hard to come by in South Louisiana. We have had bad luck with shady tree removal companies in the past that left behind messes and damaged our neighbor's property, and we have had outrageous estimates provided by well-known companies in the area that were literally 5x higher than what NOLA Tree Solutions quoted us. Said they needed to call 811 and have them mark for areas they needed to stay away from, so grinding took another few days. No problem at all and Melissa in their office was extremely responsive and communicated this all to me. The reason for me not giving them 5 stars was because when the guy came to grind the stumps, he was only able to do 1 out of the 3 trees that were cut. One was because the machine wouldn't fit through our fence and the other because he wasn't sure if he would hit a water line. Not a huge deal because we were going back and forth about getting them ground anyway. Just something to keep in mind when hiring them. Melissa was able to decrease the quoted price because of this, so that was nice. I'd use them again, but keep in mind that they may not be able to get into tight spaces and if you don't know where your water lines run underground, you'd be taking a risk.
