One year after our first wonderful stay at the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe, my husband and I returned…read moreto celebrate our wedding!
We originally visited in October 2025 and loved the property, the people, and especially Osteria Sierra so much that we returned in April 2026 to tour the event spaces and make arrangements for our wedding weekend. This October, we spent five nights at the resort, hosted our wedding dinner at Osteria Sierra, and held a farewell brunch for our families in the beautiful Guests Only event space.
The resort itself is gorgeous, with a beautiful mountain setting and a relaxing atmosphere. Even with the lakeside portion of the property closed for redevelopment, there's still so much to enjoy. The concierge team is excellent, and we've always appreciated the variety of activities offered.
We stayed in the Sierra Suite, which was fantastic! It's a huge living and dining area with a full bathroom and the option to connect bedrooms on either side. We had one adjoining king bedroom with its own bathroom, and the space was wonderful for our wedding weekend. My only suggestion would be to update the bathrooms to the same standard as those in the King Deluxe rooms.
What really makes this property special, though, is its people.
Shannon Nevins coordinated our farewell brunch, and I genuinely cannot say enough wonderful things about her. She was phenomenal throughout the planning process and the event itself. Her communication, organization, attention to detail, and genuine kindness were exceptional. The brunch was absolutely perfect, and Jeff, Maggie, and Julie provided wonderful service to our families.
Katie Stirrett, who helped us with our original wedding arrangements, was also incredibly kind and thoughtful throughout the process. Both Katie and Shannon went above and beyond to make us feel special, and we're so grateful for everything they did.
Chef Shay at Osteria Sierra was outstanding. He worked with us on our wedding dinner menu, communicated beautifully throughout the planning process, and delivered a wonderful meal for our family. Carla, our server for the wedding dinner, was fantastic, and we were delighted to have Ciera as our server again when the two of us had dinner at Osteria Sierra on Thursday evening before the wedding. She had also served us during our first visit a year earlier!
I do want to mention that we encountered some significant difficulties with previously confirmed room arrangements and the initial setup for our wedding dinner. Both were stressful and disappointing, especially during such an important weekend. However, the way resort leadership eventually handled these issues made a tremendous difference.
General Manager Pascal Dupuis personally addressed our concerns, apologized sincerely, and provided a meaningful resolution. He even made a point of finding me at checkout so we could speak in person. His kindness, professionalism, and willingness to listen left me feeling that our concerns genuinely mattered. Juan Martinez, one of the front desk managers, was also especially helpful in addressing the room situation.
No hotel is perfect, and things sometimes go wrong. What matters is whether people take responsibility and genuinely care about making things right. Pascal demonstrated that, and it reinforced why we've always felt so warmly toward this property.
Despite those challenges, our wedding weekend was filled with beautiful memories, incredible food, and truly exceptional people. We couldn't have asked for a better farewell brunch, and the wedding dinner itself was wonderful once everything was arranged.
We fell in love with this resort during our first visit, and now that we've celebrated our wedding here, it will forever hold an even more special place in our hearts.
We're already looking forward to coming back, hopefully to celebrate our anniversary every year!
A heartfelt thank you to Shannon, Katie, Chef Shay, Pascal, Juan, and everyone who helped make our wedding weekend so memorable!
