    Beautiful day for boating!
    David M.

Beautiful hotel that's right on the beach and marina areas. No need to drive from there TO the beach! I'm here for a medical convention that started Sunday and since they had a large wedding on Saturday, all rooms were booked so I had to stay overnight at another hotel in Rehoboth Beach. But the food and service here were both good. Highly recommend the Fried Oysters appetizer and Crab Cake Sandwich. If people watching is your thing, you're in the right place as well! Be advised that this is NOT a full service hotel, so no bellman to help with luggage. Carts are available for self-service though.

Hey, hi, for the start of my review, let's dispel some of those negative Nancys. Let's talk about the person that thought it was rude for housekeeping to not give them towels when asking for them in the hallway. My most recent stay I was informed upon check in that if I had any needs, no matter what it may be, I was to call down to the front desk and ask for them. Or, for my convenience, I was able to text them my wants/needs and in the morning I would open my door to the items enclosed in a plastic bag. Maybe it has something to do with a pandemic, just maybe. So the housekeeper was probably not being rude, but might have been upset because they could have been in trouble for not following guidance set forth so that they can comply with pandemic rules. Just a thought. As for the review with the noise complaint. Not sure what portion of this hotel was the addition, but it is fully expressed that this is not the only thing on property. There are condominiums on property as well. My whole stay here, I didn't hear a single noise from anywhere. In fact I slept like a baby. I could go on about how people are bashing this place because of their shortcomings, but I don't see the point. I came here for a training and had a pleasant stay. The hotel itself is located on the bay side and a block walk to the oceanfront. I had no idea Delaware could look so beautiful. This property excels at making a trip feel like a vacation. The hotel itself has a beautiful deck out back that allows for a bunch of leisure. It also allows for a portion of the bay to be private like for your stay. As one reviewer put it, you get some beautiful sunsets without having to go anywhere. My room was big and spacious. Ample room for storage, sitting, and just being alone. My bed was comfortable, I appreciated the seating area (that also doubles as another bed in the room if needed), and I had no need for room service the whole time I was there. Although I did receive a bag of linen, towels, toiletries, and toilet paper one morning when I stepped outside. There were a few things that could be updated and/or fixed. My closet cabinet stuck at times. Making it hard to open/close properly. The thermostat in the room I don't think worked properly or it could have been user error as well. WiFi was spotty at times, but easily reconnected to it after a momentary lapse. I did take advantage of the room darkening blinds as I had a migraine during my stay and it helped immensely by keeping out all the sunlight. As I said, I was here for a training. I have to say that the rooms to accommodate trainings/gatherings are quite adequate. Each room came equipped with screens and all the capabilities to hold a training and could easily be converted to accommodate any size class you had. It is also located near some great places to pop in for a bite to eat, grab a drink, or do some minimal shopping. Parking is onsite in the garage located under the building. There were more than one elevator banks throughout the property which made for easy access to the rooms and other areas of the hotel. I enjoyed that there was a sand volleyball court nearby as well. Not that I had time to partake in this. Off seasons here seem to be a bit more laidback so that was nice too. Maybe if I were to stay when I am here during peak times, this review would be different.

Non-opening "window" with a faux sandscape.

Addendum: I received a friendly, pleasant and respectful phone call from a person claiming to be the business owner/manager of the Hyatt Place, a person called "Alex K". He apologized for the (failed room-switch) inconvenience and offered us 2 free days stay here at the Hyatt. However, I never received an email with the offer or the details. When I went to the front desk, no one even knew who "Alex K" was. The whole situation was very strange, and NO. I will not be staying there again. And I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Ever. My original comments: When we checked in, we were assigned to a room without a real opening window. The so-called "window" in the room was glazed with a screen print of a sandscape. I'm claustrophobic and needed a window. I tried to call the front desk, but the room phone was not working. I finally got thru using my cell phone, and requested a room change. The young man at the desk told me that there were no other rooms available; but that I would get a phone call in the (next) morning to let me know when another room was slated to be available. OK. So I requested that they at least come fix the room phone. On the next morning... no phone call. Then, we were on our way out to the beach and stopped by the desk in the early afternoon. We inquired about the room change (again). The young woman at the desk assured us that she would call me around 4 PM when a room was to be made available. No phone call. We got back around 6 and inquired again (3), but we're told that ... guess what: there are no more rooms available. We then got ready and went out to eat. We returned from the restaurant around 10 PM. When we got off the elevator, guess what we saw: new guests pushing a luggage cart down the hallway, checking into a room with an opening window and a view. Room 324. If someone promises that I will get a phone call the morning, that must be passed on to the next shift. Clearly, no one wrote anything down or passed on any info. On the basis of how this situation was handled, I would never stay here again and I would not recommend this place to a family member, friend or foe. In the hotel business you have one chance to impress your customer enough for them to want to stay there again or give a good recommendation. They failed. The room itself gets a 3 out of 5 stars. However, the front desk service gets 1 out of 5 stars. The phone was eventually fixed, but they dropped the ball- as I requested a room change 3x in all and never received a call, then was told that there were no rooms, yet at 10 PM, we saw new guests with a luggage cart swiping into a room with a view. The "free" breakfast was not very good. Overall rating: 1/5 stars. Never staying here again.

Went mid-spring break week. Hotel has a great location- the bay in the back- great for seeing sunsets, and across Coastal highway is access to the beach which was not crowded at all. Dewey beach area is quiet at this time, only a few eateries open but anyway it is located around 20min to Lewes, which is busier, plus Cape Henlopen; and around 10-15 min to Rehoboth and Bethany beaches. Ocean city is prob a 1/2 hr away. When we arrived, something had to be fixed in our room. It took about 1/2 hour but it was still 1/2 hr lost when we were about to go out. Full self-serve breakfast was good - scrambled eggs with bacon and french toast on our first morning and sausages and waffles the next. Also oatmeal, breads/baked goods, yogurts, fruit and cereal/cereal bars. Juices, milk, Almond milk and coffees. There were so many people that there weren't enough tables, were running out of plates/utensils (bec they are not disposable-type) but the staff were fast to replenish esp the food. The hotel is undergoing renovations so by our 2nd morning there, there were more seating. Wanted coffee one evening but there was none- not sure if available all day. Free parking. Staff is very pleasant and helpful which is a big plus.

Big hotel near the water. Somewhat run down but clean. Underground parking and a really good hot breakfast. Friendly staff.

Hyatt Place sent me an email to review the my stay, which I expressed my complaints and asked them to reach out to me. They asked for a good time and never reached out after I gave my information. Then today on Yelp they left a comment on my review. I heave not received a reply from them so it is just posturing. Hence the downgrade from 2 stars to 1. This is officially the worse Hyatt I've stayed at and yes again I am a Hyatt rewards member and have been for years. Until now.

Wife brought me here for a few days. Hotel is nice & modern which I loved. Free hot breakfast was a huge plus! Also free parking in their garage. Dewey beach is literally across the street walking distance. The room is spacious. Even had a pull out bed couch which is perfect if you're sharing a room w others. Free wifi! Cable tv had a lot of channels. I did pack a firestick to watch Netflix but I didn't even need to use it. About two miles from Rehoboth beach. It is a buggy that takes you to/from Rehoboth so you don't have to worry about gas or parking. It only cost a few dollars. We even received a complimentary cocktail bc rooms wasn't ready when we arrived. My only complaint was that we were double charged for our stay. We paid prior to arrival & was charged again our second night there. We were refunded but of course it takes days to go back. It actually still hasn't went back to the card. Other than that hickup stay was perfect. I'll definitely come back.

I was super impressed with the entire staff. It's late summer (which must be a GRIND) and all seem in good spirits and ready/willing to help in any way possible. One guy in blue (didn't get his name) offered my daughter 8 different kids of cereals for a late night snack. And gave us a little cup of milk! We had a few small issues with our suite and Natalia and Katie were on it. They followed up throughout the stay and even emailed after I left. Hospitality in 2022 is harder than ever, but Natalia and her crew made it look easy. Can't wait to get back!!!

This hotel is so nice and has so many amenities! Right on the bay with lounge chairs and tables around all the decks and 2 fire pits that were easy to light! Perfect location easy access to elevators from the parking garage! We enjoyed our wedding anniversary with our pup! Will definitely be back!

The hot tub isn't big but it's fine for a few people and great to have right next to the spa. The parking is free on the off season and once you're in, you can easily walk a few blocks to the beach or all around town. I hear they have a shuttle but we never needed them. The room is very big and we enjoyed the small balcony just as a feature. On a warm day you want to just enjoy snacks and a breeze I can imagine it is wonderful. We enjoyed the fireplace. The bathroom lights were a bit complicated but the tub was enormous and luxurious for a soak! The coffee nook with fridge was perfectly outfitted and great for storage. The room lights were a bit flickery but not a major issue. Paying for the higher adults only floor was WORTH IT! They keep the snacks area ready with basic chips and cookies and the cooler with sodas and water and refresh it all the time. The sitting room with its own fireplace is super cozy and you can play a card game or build legos being away from any hecticness. Plus afternoon cookies, tea, coffee, and hot chocolate were not to be missed! Those were great to take as a dessert after dinner or relaxing in the room. I bet in the warmer months the outside terrace is great to enjoy for reading. The bar service was good, whether you wanted drinks or meals things came out decently in good time and well done. I think the prices are very reasonable. The area has so many great options but if you just want to stay in you'll be fine! The breakfast experience was fine- the omelet stations were good but really did take a long time. Maybe just a lack of experience. Good selection of everything and while the bakery station had a variety of scones and muffins, they weren't always fresh tasting and the fruit wasn't much a variety. They will sometimes fill up and you'll have to sit in the cold conference room rather than the cozy vestibule. So go early if you want all the best options and won't be rushed. I can imagine this place is always busy but in the off season months I absolutely recommend this to any couple or single who wants to get away- shops are still open, restaurants still active, and the beach is still refreshing!

The room was made up every morning of our three night stay which was a pleasant surprise. Breakfast was included and there was plenty of food to go around, and even an omelet station Friday through Sunday. Nice touch. The small bar and afternoon tea was just enough to be an alternative to having to go out multiple times to pick up a cocktail or evening snack. We enjoyed the 7:30 - 10:30 morning meal and their coffee station sat on the bar for our convenience. The only slip came when the ordered omelet didn't arrive within 20+ minutes and I had to cancel the order because we needed to head out. I had a full plate anyway. I can't speak to what Bellmoor is like in season, but we found it exactly what we needed to relax, hang out in the evening and use as a base of operations as we explored more of the Rehoboth-Lewes vicinity in winter. 5 mellow well deserved stars!

We had another great stay at the Ocean Glass Inn for the 2nd year in a row. This time, I reserved…read moreRoom #3, which is quite roomy with two queen beds. They texted me to let me know that an earlier arrival was possible. The front office staff is always very pleasant. We arrived just in time for the free happy hour, so we enjoyed wine & beer. The rooms are immaculate, the AC is great, and all the little touches are there. Breakfast is awesome--quite a variety: several kinds of tasty baked egg cups, hard-boiled eggs, muffins, croissants, cereals, juices, yogurts, fruit, coffee. Everything you need is there, in a great, close in location.

Room is very small. There is not even a small table inside, we had to eat on the bed. One…read morenightstand only. The hot water did not work. Contacted the manager who said they have having electrical issues. The clothes drawer in the room was old and rusty and we couldn't open it. Kept our clothes in the language in an already very small room. The room smelled moldy, old, and unpleasant. The whole "hotel" is actually an old motel that has been renovated to look modern but it's a scam. Check the square footage before you rent. Paid $250 a night for a tiny motel room pretty much. Breakfast? Hardly anything. The coffee machine was new but it took forever to make a cup of coffee. I can't imagine if there was a line of people waiting. I never felt so scammed and fooled in my life. Never again.

Absolutely amazing! We stopped in Dewey Beach for a couple nights on our way down the east coast…read more We choose the Surf Shanty because of its location to beach (less than a 3 minute walk) and it's very chic retro (but not cheesy) style. Its designer also deserves 5 stars! But that's not what will bring us back. What will bring us back, is Andre and his honesty, his hardworking/attention to cleanliness, and most importantly his kindness. Andre and his staff go above and beyond for their guests. From finding/shipping a lost ring (for another quest) to taking pride in the appearance of the motel, from sharing great ideas for food/drink/etc. He cares!!! He made our stay in the comfy beds, cool air conditioning, and hot shower unit that we had even that much better. You will love your stay at the Surf Shanty and you will remember Andre! Thank you Andre! Enjoy : )

Really enjoyed our stay here! Super welcoming! Andre was very kind and had lots of info to share…read moreabout the area, things to do, and the way things work around the motel. He even told us he was waiting for us to arrive so he could make sure we got in our room okay. Our room was super clean and smelled very clean as well. The bed and pillows were so comfortable. Loved how cute and pretty the room and its decor was. The bikes provided were fun. Good location! Walls just very thin. Could hear anything and everything. A little difficult to sleep when you can hear every little thing.
