Had a sandwich for lunch. The dining room was very pleasant. Decided to see if there were kiwis available. Picked up the 6 pack marked $4.99. Forgot to look at receipt till I got home and saw I was charged. $7.99. Disgraceful. The lunch was good. The employees are very nice and helpful. I feel sorry for customers with carts full of merchandise getting up charged, big time. From now on I'm going to eat lunch occasionally. I'll consider Hyvee as a convenience store to purchase the one item to run in to buy. More expensive but CONVENIENT for the 1-2 items you have to have. Otherwise go to Walmart for regular shopping. BTW is very nice that all your stores offer to Round up the purchase to the nearest dollar to give to charity the change. I suspect the motive is the huge tax write off Hyvee gets with those small contributions thousands that add up! If in the rare event I make a purchase at Hyvee I'll skip the round up. I already do my own charitable giving. It's also interesting how Sale signs are everywhere in sight. But nothing is on sale, really. Across the street Walmart has the same merchandise at a lower price. read more

BIG store.... the asian deli had good looking food for mid day... bakery was what i came for.. nice gals working in there! and large bakery for a south iowa hyvee... ancient grains breakfast bread is what i came for. they had some just off the cooling racks. cherry donut holes... not near as good as osky jaarsma bakery.... they were super busy or i would have liked to shop in there... looks like they had a real good bulk bins style food section. read more

I would not recommend ordering food to go from this Hy-Vee. The kitchen staff does not have it together. I ordered two items and the first item was not on the ticket as I sat there waiting 10 minutes for it after bringing the second item out. They seem to be short staffed. Go to McDonald's across the street. read more

We utilized Hy-Vee in Fairfield for our wedding flowers and catering for our guests on our Big Day. Can't recommend them highly enough for this service! The folks who are in the flower shop worked extensively with my wife to make sure we got the flowers looking just right, and that we did it without breaking the bank. On the day, the flowers were perfect and were set up without fuss. Noah L. in the kitchen brought half the food pre-made and cooked the other half. You definitely would have thought we catered in a 4 star restaurant chef, rather than a grocery store catering service for the quality we got. Every guest raved about the food. Every scrap was gone by the end of the night, even though we had Noah make extra. I was also told that we could have saved across the board (maybe 10% off) if we also got our wedding cake from Hy-Vee but we opted for a cake made by our friend instead. Can't recommend them enough for this! A big cost saver for us too! read more

High Vee! This is a pleasant grocery store, which is surprisingly big for such a small town. It's got a good sized produce section, a meat counter, a deli, a prepared meal area, and a liquor store all in one place! This is a well lit, well stocked, and well organized store. I liked how the store seemed to have partnered with national brands for some of their own products, like "Hot Chee-to's encrusted chicken breasts" or Busch Beer infused bratwurst. I wish there were more local products with local pride behind them. The Iowa products were not prominently displayed. This was quite a stretch from where I usually shop in Texas! The prices were good for what you're getting. I found some great deals in the liquor store! They offer can return here, with a dedicated clerk to counting up the can totals. In the back of the store is the "Members Lounge area" which I'm not quite sure what that is used for. I didn't have a membership, and can't report back on that one. It looks like a place where you might be able to have a little party at the grocery store? The store offers self check-out or with a clerk. They use a cart sanitizing machine which is pretty cool in a pandemic. Parking was easy. read more

It's great, they don't require masks & they have locally sourced dairy from an organic 2a dairy farm. They have a nice hot food bar & often have special deals on their butcher counter. 10 bratwurst for $10 is my go to deal, but often they have steak wrapped in bacon for low prices as well, 2x 5oz sirloin steak wrapped in thick bacon or 2x 8oz sirloin steak wrapped in thick bacon for a few shekels more read more

Went to the Asian deli... the girl behind the counter Jocelyn acted like she didn't know what she was doing me and my husband got the dinner for 2 the sesame chicken was really dry and hard and we asked for sweet and sour chicken for one of our pints and they weren't going to give us any sweet and sour sauce until my husband asked and then they gave Us one dipping cup for a pint of chicken...we had to go buy a bottle of sauce from the actual store... read more

I have shopped here many times now and every time I go there is an item that rings up without the sale that is marked on the shelf. I am tired of this occurring over and over and it's hard being a loyal HyVee customer to see a store perform so poorly on their price markings. I don't like shopping at Wal-fart but I guess I'm going to be in my future if this keeps happening to me. read more

5:30 pm and wanted fresh tenderloin sandwiches to go. Only 1 cooked tenderloin left. Asked if they would make more and as told the kitchen was closed, what's in the case is it. Had been here before and the boss made us fresh tenderloins in the other fryer (the one they are using for not sure what) so asked her to ask. This boss on duty said no. My husband picked up Chinese from their buffet. It was beyond DISGUSTING! If the veggies had been cooked any longer they'd be liquified. The general Tso chicken was soggy and all breading. It was completely unacceptable. I'm thinking it had been sitting in the same pan for 8 hours and reheated from the day before, nasty. After picking around for an edible piece I ended up throwing everything out. NEVER making this mistake again. They need to learn how to estimate the amount they're going to sell and toss food that's been sitting for more than a few hours and make fresh. If it closes at 6 throw out the garage and throw a few edible pieces in. I doubt the person who sold this to my husband would have eaten it themselves! Not okay! read more

Not bad for a grocery store in a small town. It was clean and well stocked. Remind me of Safeway but it was cleaner. Customers did not appear like trailer park trashes but they could be rude. The best part of it was the free WiFi for public use. So shoppers, you can shop in a decent place, with WiFi to compliment your smart phone. read more

Hy-Vee has donated SO MUCH to my nonprofit food pantry, I don't know why I haven't posted a review before. The Fairfield Iowa store donates bread and sweets every day, as well as other items for food pantry use upon occasion. Additionally, every time I host a fundraising event or open house, I can count on Hy-Vee to donate food to serve our guests. This past Friday, we held a fundraising Trivia Night, and Hy-Vee agreed to provide munchies for our attendees. Our estimate of how many attendees we would have was WAY off - which caused the food to run out very quickly. We never promised anyone a meal, so they could have easily said, "When it's gone it's gone." But instead, store director Lindsey had her employees quickly bring more food across town to restock the event with all sorts of goodies! Bravo to Lindsey, Abbey, and the rest of the Hy-Vee employees who made munchie-magic happen! read more

Is more expensive than other stores (Walmart). There are more employees than Walmart and they are nicer, however they aren't very helpful. The health market section and baked good section are pretty good. read more

This is a decent Midwestern grocery store with an above average health food section. Be aware that they price gouge in the Fairfield Hy-Vee and the exact same items will be slightly cheaper in Hy-Vee one town over. Between Hy-Vee, Everybody's, and Wall-Mart it's a toss up on what's marked up or down for the same brands. read more

Nice place to shop. Most of the stuff is overpriced but what's new anymore.

Clean, well lit, best Chinese food in town, large selection of organics, and a huge liquor / beer selection. I do find it's a bit pricey, but I'm guessing that's because they have a pretty solid monopoly on being the only big supermarket in town. read more

This store is absolutely beautiful. Never expect to see this in a town the size of Fairfield. The employees are all so friendly and helpful.
