Even over the phone, the person running the location came across as oddly defensive whenever I asked basic questions. When I arrived, the atmosphere made me feel as though I was being treated like a criminal simply because I was there for a work-related drug screening. At one point, I casually mentioned that the location was smaller than some of the larger chain testing centers. I didn't mean anything negative by it--it was literally just an observation--but he seemed to take offense and kept bringing it up even after I had already moved on and was trying to focus on the reason I was there. The whole experience just felt unnecessarily tense and almost interrogative, like I was being questioned rather than simply completing a routine employment screening. Just to give an idea of how awkward the interaction was: after I left, I realized I had forgotten my water bottle there. I actually decided it wasn't worth going back to get it because I didn't want to have to deal with the guy again. To his credit, he did the screening correctly and efficiently, so my two-star rating isn't really about the basic operation of the business. It's more about basic people skills and how uncomfortable he made a routine interaction feel.
