While visiting Cologne during the holidays, we decided to take a short day trip out to Bonn since…read morewe'd never been before. Imagine our surprise and delight when we discovered that the Haribo factory store was located in town! My husband LOVES gummi bears, so we made a beeline to check it out. This is basically a factory store, so you're getting the freshest candies for wholesale-like prices (especially compared to prices on Haribo in the U.S.)! Think large bags of candy for around $1.50! This shop had pretty much every kind of Haribo candy you could ever want. The store doesn't have a big footprint, but they have stuffed every nook and cranny with gummi goodness. If you're looking for gummis by color, shape, flavor, and even self-serve, you're going to find it here! They have so much stuff, even vegetarian candy. It's not just gummi candy either -- you can find souvenirs with Haribo's signature adorable bow-clad bear. This is a great spot for unique gifts from Germany. We came out with several bags of candy, and, to the delight of our friends and coworkers, brought a few back with us on the plane. Everyone commented on the fun and unique flavors as well as the freshness of the products. The store also has displays with the history of the company as well as a couple of fun photo ops with the mascot bear. I think this fun and free activity should be a must-stop for anyone who loves candy.

The very definition of a kid in a candy store. Back home the typical set up has maybe 3-5 different types. Usually the standard gummy bear or cola plus some others. But this place has everyone that has been made to all the locations of Europe. There were easily 100 various types of shapes, sizes and flavors. And all at wholesale prices. The $2-3 markup gummies are only $.85. I ended up buying $50ish dollars worth of gummies that could easily have cost $100. My favorite was the iced tea gummy. Think of it as the gummy cola but lemon flavored iced tea. It's a seasonal item and i wished that I had bought more. The staff were helpful and spoke English. This place is a must for the gummy lover!

Gummies! I would end the review there, but Yelp won't tell me that I'm smart unless I write more,…read moreand I personally look to Yelp for validation. You have to go here, even if you aren't the biggest fan of gummy products. I had no idea it was founded in Bonn, but then again, I don't think I have ever thought about Haribo long enough to wonder where it was from. The name is an acronym formed from Hans Riegel, Bonn (how long did it take you to figure out which letters spelled 'Haribo'? Be honest; this is a shame-free zone.) I bought a few buckets of different things and made them a cheap way to impress my co-workers and remind them that I'm awesome (the magic power of sugary treats that stick in your teeth). On a random side note, someone swiped one of the four buckets I put in the break room. Those were community buckets. Pigs. Anyways, go here. There's another Haribo store in the center of Bonn that has two floors and a history of Haribo (I didn't read it, but it is there, printed on five or six feet of yellow wall). I'll stop here; Yelp just affirmed my worldly value.

Great selection and the pick n mix is nice. The Haribo from other countries was neat as was the non gummy options. Would have been cool to see more limited items that are specificity to Bonn.
