I selected quite a few items including dark chocolate bars with chili, dark chocolate bars with orange, a variety of loose truffles both with and without alcohol, solid chocolate in the shape of flip-flops, and chocolate bars with and without filling. There are several gift boxed items, and the cashier will gift wrap an item if requested. The cashier did not speak English, and my German is limited; still, we got on well enough. She even gave me some hard candy at the end of our transaction. This location also sells chocolate ice cream cones with a variety of toppings. I purchased six gifts, large and small, for my chocolate loving family and friends for just over €28.

I jumped at the chance to go to Frankfurt with my husband when he was getting sent for work, solely to fill half my luggage with these delicious gummies. I literally went to this store 4 times during my stay to buy a few kilos each visit (they're very heavy to carry around for a 2 miles walk back to the hotel) No one else can make their gummies like Baren-Treff. It has the best chewiness consistency with that perfect combo of sweetness and tartness, all with some amazing fruit juice infused inside. They employees always offer samples of whatever flavor of the month is and I believe you can ask for samples of whatever they have in store as they have dozens of jars behind the counter. The definite flavors to buy are the Fruchtsaft-Waldfrüchte (fruit juice berries/forest fruits), Rote Rosen (red roses), and Saure Limo (sour lemonade?). Baren-Treff is far superior to Haribo and the ever money gouging Sugarfina. If you go to Germany, don't leave with a few bags of these!

We ordered the hot chocolate and chose to leave it au natural, versus add one of the many aromas and flavors they offer. The drink was rich, thick, and velvety. It's what hot chocolate is supposed to taste like. We savored every drop. Run, don't walk to this chocolate confection heaven. It's now a staple for every visit to Heidelberg.
