I need some clean clothes and on a Saturday night, I'm doing laundry. Liquid Laundromat is cashless, using a proprietary card system you add value to and then debit from to run the machines. I now have a card that I'll never use again but whatever. Crazy thing, the machine got stuck ejecting my new card. I was all set to get super angry but I spotted a sign with their number. What the heck, let's give them a call. "Tonya" answered, was able to "see" remotely that the machine had jammed and issued me a new card. All in less than two minutes. OMG, that's service! Not much seating inside and it gets rather warm.

I entered the shop to buy a Mophie case for my iPhone 6. I first looked around to see I could find…read moreone. Then I asked one of the staff if could buy one. He reluctantly stopped looking at his computer screen and just said "we don't have it". As a customer, I would have expected a more elaborate answer like: "I'm sorry, we don't have this article, however please let me check if/when it will be available". Is this too much to ask? I tried to ask more questions and the only answers I got was: "I don't know". I know one thing for sure... I'll never go back to that shop.

This is a review for The Apple Guy on Manners Street in Wellington, not the branch on Lampton Quay…read more The folks at Manners Street Apple Guy were so so helpful to me, updating my old Macbook Pro just after lockdown when I was doing a lot of Zoom teaching online. They addressed the issues I asked them to (battery replacement and hard drive check) and did a complimentary operating system upgrade. Everything was well priced, well communicated, and done quickly. I will be back!

We had our ipad glass face replaced by the apple guy and not happy…read more When we got it back the wi-fi network connectivity capabilities were shot. From the same distance from our router I did a test using a friends ipad and ours: - Friends ipad 3 bars - full strength - Our ipad after apple guy had it - 1 bar of connectivity Another test from a location further away - Friends ipad - 2 bars of connectivity - Our ipad after apple guy had it - no connectivity We contacted Rewiti from the apple guy and explained that since his replacement to the glass the ipad had lost significant signal strength. He picked it up, we didn't hear from him for quite some time, about 2 weeks or so. When we finally got it back there was no difference, it still hadn't been fixed. He now wont pickup when we call and hasn't yet returned any of our messages we've left on his answer service. I was tempted to have a go at fixing myself but after seeing how delicate a repair it was I decided to leave it to a professional. Unfortunately 'The Apple Guy Ltd' is far from professional - While fixing our screen issue they broke the wi-fi connectivity - When returning for the 2nd time, still wasnt fixed - and took forever to get it back - No receipt or invoice was supplied upon payment - Wont return calls and now hides from his responsibility of putting right what he broke

Somehow, I did not manage to have a coronary climbing up from Lambton Quay to the Mount Street…read moreCemetery. It's quite the climb! At the top of the hill, there is a paved path through the cemetery and I would recommend sticking to that as there are an unknown number of unmarked graves due to the passage of time. From the sign at the entrance, "It was originally laid out to be used as a Roman Catholic Cemetery, consecrated in 1841. It was mostly fully and closed in 1891 but family plots were used until 1954. The main town cemetery for all other interments in early Wellington was at Bolton Street. "This is the last resting place of over 1100 Wellington Catholics, including the first priests and nuns, people of many ethnicities from all strata of society, and many children. The graves are often now unmarked, their simple wooden crosses long gone." [Review 512 of 2024 - 159 in New Zealand - 21544 overall]
