The PA was very polite, professional with a nice friendly disposition that took the time to explain the medical care she was going to give me where she proceeded to give my finger a 10 Iodine soak to ensure all germs and bacteria were cleaned out of my deep cut before proceeding with suturing my injury. Following the procedure, she gave me clear concise instructions for me to follow that would ensure a proper healing of the cut. From time I arrived to leaving the facility was on the order of an hour which for medical care is quite good by any standard these days. When I arrived at the parking lot, I checked-in via a QR code that was on a window sign. It took me to a portal to complete paperwork and that took only a minute or two since I had not been there before. After I submitted the paperwork, I got a text message indicating that it was received and then another text a minute later indicating that everything good with the paperwork. I settled in by turning on a podcast in my car and dug into a magazine. About 5 minutes later, somebody came outside and called a name. My window was up and I assumed it was somebody who arrived before me. But when she called out the name again, I rolled down the window and to my suprise, it was my turn to go in. I was taken to a room where somebody immediately took vitals and a history of my illness. She did a quick covid and flu test. It took about 10 minutes to get the results back and a doctor (RN?) came in to give me the good news - no covid, no influenza but she asked more questions as to my symptoms and wound up writing my an Rx for cough drops and inhaler. Overall, a quick experience, especially in this time of covid and various protocols implemented. I would definitely come here again.

Healthcare Rant Incoming I usually let things go, but not…read morethis time. A week ago Wednesday, I had another dehydration episode after getting sick--either from a stomach bug or food poisoning. Instead of going straight to the ER, I tried the new urgent care on Grand River, hoping to save time, money, and stress. I called ahead and clearly asked two different staff members if they could administer IV fluids if needed. I explained that if they couldn't, I'd just head to the ER. They both assured me--no hesitation--that yes, they could do IVs. So I went. They're new. They were eager to collect my insurance and co-pay. I arrived at 4:30 PM. They close at 6. Was the staff friendly? Yes. Was the visit a total waste of my time and money? Absolutely. The doctor seemed far more concerned about getting out on time than actually helping me. Despite a long medical history of similar episodes requiring fluids, he brushed it off--insinuating that maybe this was "psychosomatic." (Classic cop-out.) I've had doctors gaslight me before, but I'm done letting it slide. I don't trust most of them anymore. It's exhausting to have to fight to be heard, only to be told later, "Oh... you were probably right." (And you know I make them say it out loud.) This doctor literally told me, "Yeah, we can do IVs... but the right nurse isn't here and I don't do that." ‍ He handed me a pill and sent me home. At least he apologized. But still... Let's be real: They got me in because they wanted the money. That's it. There was no meaningful care. I should've walked out without paying. If it were any other industry, I would have. A friend of mine went a few days later--same story. They tell you they can help, then do the absolute bare minimum. Oh, and P.S. -- It was hot as hell in there. I don't think they set the thermostat for patients. Bottom line: I'll never go back. If you can avoid this place, do. Consider this your warning: Buyer Beware.
