Huntington Learning Center on Silverside in Wilmington Delaware is a great place to send your kids…read morefor tutoring. Covid definitely caused learning delays because most children need interaction to adequately learn new material. That interaction with the person teaching it is the best way. Huntington has a good way of evaluating the type of learner your child is, developing a program for them and presenting the material in a way that helps them strive. My kids are so proud of their progress. We found the price manageable and have worked it into our budget. The kids are happy to go to tutoring because they realize now what they are getting out of the time at the learning center. We cannot say enough good things about HLC on Silverside. All the tutors are wonderful and the center is well run. Thank you Miss Candise.

Extremely disappointing experience with this school from beginning to end…read more To start, they require children to undergo lead blood testing just to attend their summer camp, an unnecessary and intrusive requirement. More concerning, however, is their discriminatory treatment of children with IEPs. Both of my children were enrolled in the camp, but after I submitted one of their IEPs (at the school's request), they revoked that child's admission within a few hours of me sending the report. This decision was made solely based on their IEP. I had mentioned that they were welcome to call his current teacher to gain more information in regard to how well he/she was doing, but they didn't want to hear it - full admission denial one month before the start of camp. I would not, under any circumstances, recommend this school.

Shamima and Stewart (Lower Elementary teachers) have created an environment that nurtures curiosity which then motivates the children to learn. My son was initially a reluctant reader who was not pushed but gently guided. He self-motivated into reading well above grade level. He has always loved math and because of the Montessori program, has progressed at his own pace and is excelling. The teachers keep a peaceful, respectful environment where kids of all abilities and diverse backgrounds are made to feel an integral part of the classroom. The classrooms are bright, large and clean and the library is full of resources. There are smart boards that are relied upon to an appropriate degree. I love this group. I attended it when I was a student at U. Delaware, and I also lived in Newark…read moretwo more years, during which time I continued participating in this group. I am very grateful that I was allowed (and encouraged) to participate in this group when I was no longer a student. This time in my life was somewhat difficult, and I often felt lonely and out of place living in a college town when I was no longer a student, and this ministry group helped me to feel appreciated and feel a sense of belonging. This place serves weekly dinners, followed by services. I loved the services, especially when they had traditional hymn-singing. I found the pastor, Bruce Heggen, to be thought-provoking and to raise deep and interesting questions which helped challenge me spiritually. This group is pretty inclusive in terms of people who have different beliefs and faith backgrounds. Although it's associated with an ELCA church, it serves people from the more liberal ELCA denominations as well as people from the more conservative Missouri Synod, and everyone coexists. There are also a few people who show up here who do not have lutheran backgrounds, and I think the group would be welcoming to non-lutherans (I did not grow up Lutheran although I've attended Lutheran churches and are familiar with their liturgy and traditions). This group also does a lot of other things, including running a tutoring service. The also allowed us to use their space one year for dancing, as the Perkins scrounge closes at 10:30, and we had a few gatherings here in the dining area with dancing for a couple hours after the scrounge closed. The group also runs a fellowiship for the service of the hungry (FISH). I am really impressed with how much this small group does! I think their biggest service though is to the student body, providing a community gathering space.

If they had any concerns, or even wanted to give us some positive feedback they'd make time to let us know. Jackson also adores them, and always talks about them at home. Our son genuinely loves going to school everyday to see his teachers and friends, and there is nothing better to see as a parent! Potty training was a BREEZE thanks to the work they did with Jackson. He has developed such independence, and it was due to all they've done with him. We are so grateful for them, and the care they've provided. We moved to Middletown 5 years ago and chose the location because of the public school system…read more Unfortunately the large classroom sizes, overwhelmed teachers and curriculum gaps had us looking for more after 3 years. We moved to St. Anne's with our then 6th grader, knowing middle school would only prove more disappointing. After just that one year, we were convinced that our other children should follow. Last year, with 4th, 6th and 7th grade students at SAES, we watched our children truly flourish. Their confidence grew, their minds were challenged, their creativity embraced. At SAES, our children have a voice, their intelligence knows no bounds and their souls are nourished. We know our now 8th grader, in only his 3rd year at St. Anne's, is more than prepared for all that is ahead of him and we truly could not be more thankful.
