I "trusted" my safety deposit box contents with this firm, and allegedly, 6 years ago (unbeknownst to me), it was accidentally drilled out because they have TWO of the same box numbers. (Who does that? Label one of them 2918a and 2918b if you are too cheap to purchase new tags and want to collect old security boxes from other banks. A sharpie would even solve the problem!)
Nobody notified me of the bank's error, although I keep paying the annual invoices for my security box and they have all of my information on file to send me the invoices. This calamity of errors was noted on 11/17/17, to which the manager, Vanessa, told me that she would request my contents from a location in Ohio where the goods have been stored for the past 6 years. She instructed me that this activity would take 3-5 business days to receive my goods. On business day #4, I called Vanessa again to confirm that everything would be smooth for arrival on day #5. She then alerted me that my contents HAVE NOT been shipped and that no action has taken place in Ohio because they hadn't started drilling that box and wouldn't start to drill until tomorrow. Well, today is day #9, and still no update (as she had promised), and no phone call from her district manager (which she also had promised). I requested that my contents are expedited and overnighted for the inconvenience (and that hasn't happened), nor has she kept me in the loop as to what is going on with this cluster since our last conversation that I initiated.
Update: day #11, I was instructed by a different manager that they hadn't drilled the box in Ohio yet because the paperwork was only REQUESTED last Tuesday, not 6 days prior when I first brought it to their attention. So frustrating!
Updated: day #60, I received my items today, all intact. Huntington made good on reimbursing me for the 6 years of payments on my non-existent safety deposit box that was accidentally drilled and contents sent to the State. They also reimbursed me for replacement of my Car Title that was also held in Ohio since I had sold the vehicle and was waiting for the title that I kept in a secure place. I hope many lessons can be learned from this example: improved bank policies & procedures, and improved communication to customers.
I upgraded my review to 2 stars for the effort made to reconcile the errors. However, it doesn't replace the fact that it took 60 days to receive my secured goods. read more
