She told us a few tips, tricks, and shortcuts to maximize our time on the course. The bar was quant, had an informal dining room, small pro shop, and museum upstairs. Drinks were reasonable (about $5 each for 2 cans), and we sat outside to enjoy our post-round beverages. There was no food there, but if we brought our receipt to the Allegheny Grill (minutes away in downtown Foxburg), I believe you got 10% off your check. The course itself was very well maintained, not perfect, but honestly that's part of the charm. It's so cool knowing that we're playing on one of the longest-running golf courses in the US. The greens were close to the tees (and houses!), so precision is key. This is a 9 hole course, but you can play again to make it 18 with some variation to the tee. Golf carts were in great shape, too. I HIGHLY recommend playing and making the trip here!! You can tell how much they appreciate your business and I can't wait to come back to play again!

Healthy greens, long and straight par 4s and 5s, with very few sand traps with a few water hazards. I went during summer hours on a week day around 11:30 and I was able to take my time the whole day. Most holes are fairly straight, but you may lose a few balls in the brush (2-3 ft. high) if you slice or hook a few yards off. Par 3s are fun, but short. Although very fun, an average golfer could probably use a 7 or 8 iron to get close. Woes: no cart service, score cards weren't in the carts (picked up myself), and the carts run on gas (go cartish)!?? Definitely a must try when in town!

The fire tower is an absolute must, and although there are trails to take to reach the fire tower, I love the drive through the forest, the best. Since many are visiting the fire tower along with Seneca point I always try and visit earlier in the mornings when there's not a lot of people. I also am a fan of the lodging in the area. The cabins (River & McBeth) are very affordable & comfortable and sometimes we even stay nearby in Brookville. A lot to book up fast but they do have availability from time to time so even if its last minute, still check their websites. The sawmill is so fun to shop at as well as Parkers Indian trading Post. If you're the hiking type, there are 52 miles of trails to explore. If you're a birder, you'll definitely want to grab your binoculars and check out different parts of the park, as numerous birds inhabit the forest. If you prefer spending a day on the water, you can go swimming in the Clarion River, as well as rent kayaks, canoes, and river tubes. It's not hard to find a good spot to fish, and in the winter you can also enjoy cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, sledding, and ice-skating. In my case, Cook Forest is just a couple of hours away - a day trip isn't out of the question. Still, it's so much nicer to spend an entire weekend in this beautiful place. Fortunately, that's pretty easy to do! Campgrounds and log cabins alike are available within the park. The cabins are very popular, but have no fear: there are hotels within driving distance of the park as well. Do keep in mind that cell service is not guaranteed here; this is totally OK in my book, but it does mean that having a rough idea of where you'll be driving is essential. Grab a map or write down some directions from Google Maps - then go forth and enjoy your time in this beautiful place!

There are three different entrances into the maze because each entrtance offers a different length of the maze. The lengths are .3 miles, 1.1 miles and 2.4 miles. We chose the 1.1 and began. Before you begin, you pay $4 person and under 5 is free. Once you pay, you recieve a map of the maze to assist you in making it through. It was a lot of fun and is easy to get turned around even with the map. Once we finished the maze, we stayed and enjoyed the other activities they had set up. They had several fenced areas where the kids could pet different animals such as pigs, goats and horses. They had a sand box only it was filled with corn which the kids loved. For an additional $4 fee per person, they offered a hay ride too. Inside the barn, you could purchase little toy farm equipment and they had snacks such as candy, chips and beverages. If in the area, this place is a lot of fun especially with the kiddos. The maze is for young and old alike. Give it a shot and see if you can make it through without getting turned around. It's interesting to say the least. By the way, with Halloween coming up, they will be opening the Haunted Maze. We may be back sooner than we planned.
