There were free laundry facilities and it was just a short walk to an amazing restaurant, Il Cacciatore. There was a continental breakfast in the room each day that included English muffins with several topping choices, yogurt/berry parfaits, and muesli. Coffee and tea were also in the room, or espresso drinks were available in the lobby for a small fee. Each morning, I went to the lobby to get a latte and was able to sit and talk with the owners. They are LOVELY and gave great recommendations for restaurants and activities. This place helped make Hunter Valley my favorite Australian destination!

Few things to note, continental breakfast is included and is actually already in the fridge upon arrival--which allows one to have a midnight snack (if you get hungry during the night like me, haha) and gives you flexibility with when you want to take your breakfast (no early morning knocking). On a side note, for those who are particular about toiletries, the hotel provides a combo shampoo/body wash. If that's not your cup of tea, you might want to bring your own shampoo. Also, complimentary wifi for those techies, like myself.

Unfortunately it rained heavily for 90% of the time we were here but the rooms were clean, staff were super friendly and the hotel was very nice. The library off reception has a log fire and there is a cozy comfort to the reception which I loved plus the smell of a log fire burning. They are also walking distance to the hunter valley village shops and gardens so easy to get to and really convenient too.

I never expected to hear myself utter the words, "Could you call for the buggy?" But that's what…read moreyou get at Chateau Elan - where walking anywhere on site is absolutely optional. Too lazy to walk from reception to your room, or your room to the tennis court? No problem! Simple dial 1 to be carted around anywhere on site, all free and part of the service. I stayed in a king spa room (not a suite) and it was just charming. Huge bathroom with spa bath, big soft bed, rotating tv and sitting area. There is also a day spa on site and a HAIR SALON which just seals the deal for me. (Are you with me ladies?) I didn't stay long enough to try either of these, but judging from the quality of the toiletries provided (the same used in the spa and salon) it would be quite a treat! The restaurant on site was also very good. The piano made for nice ambiance. On a purely superficially note, I wasn't much for the seating and carpets, which looked just a little too 'country motel' to do justice to the food and the whole vibe of the place. The golf course here is also apparently Greg Norman designed, if that's your thing.

Normally stay in some cool wooden cottages in Pokolbin or a pub hotel in Cessnock :D. This Irish pub have good tasting pub meals from breakfast right through to dinner :)!! of course the beers here great to wash down your meal or just to have a good night with the hunter Locals lol. Never had a bad experience but only more memorable nights than the night before last ... Friendly staff especially the people behind the bar overcharging you for drinks ;) ;)!!! Security are heaps friendly here obviously if you go by the 2 way street rule.. through out the night there is normally a security guard guiding the friendly patrons to their safe ride home :D. They always have good beats playing, live or DJ & even better locals or other travelers to have a drink or 10 with :D. Is my go to place for a messy but fun night in the Hunter :D

It was stupid the experience of ordering and getting recommendations was gone with the wind. The food arrived to the table fast. The food looks great and the potion size was perfect. Pokolbin Village - A Corker Amounst The Wineries…read more I have chosen Pokolbin Village for me and my family to stay at in The Hunter Valley Wine Country (only two hours from Sydney) during the first week of January 2017, that is a 'four star' rating and I can understand why they have an amazing rating. The place is nicely displayed with a range of specialty shops and restaurant for your convenience with lots of parking spaces available. There are easy-to-find signs especially when you're trying to locate 'Reception' so you can check-in, get your keys, unload your gear and start your holiday as-soon-as-possible. Once we entered the reception area, we were greeted by a friendly staff straight away that made us feel welcomed. The receptionist asked where I was parked and then directed me with easy instructions how to get to the our 'self-contained' villa accommodation and we noticed that on the key-ring to our villa, there were adverts on it stating that you can receive discounts for participating on-site shops and some outlets when shown. I drove the short distance to our room without a problem and found nearby parking - oh... by-the-way, the specialty shops are not too far from the room we were staying at, just a short stroll. . When we entered our room, the air-conditioner was already on that gave us an instant relief from the heat we were experiencing - 39 degrees Celsius (102.2 Farenheit). The facilities were conveniently located near the rooms - swimming pool, BBQ facilities, tennis court and boules court and on top of that, free wifi. We made great use of the swimming pool and BBQ facilities with nearby table and seats so you can enjoy your meal outdoors with the natural, non-pollutant country air. Pokolbin Village is only minutes away from all major attractions and event locations. It is the ideal place for couples, families or groups who are looking for a place with natural charms and beauty for a 'time-out' of your everyday hustle and bustle lifestyle.
