BEWARE: Do NOT book with Chris Leland and HuntAoudad.com!
My hunting partner has been hunting aoudad successfully in South Central and west Texas for 15 or so years. The outfitter he had used in the past was not available, so after doing some research (but clearly NOT enough research), we came across Chris Leland of HuntAoudad.com LLC. Chris seemed knowledgeable and we booked a hunt. We arrived in September 2021 and after hunting hard for 3 days in "Aoudad Capital of the World", we did not see a single aoudad (None!). Chris blamed it on the drought conditions and offered to rebook. We accepted (although would have been nice if Chris had been honest with us upfront before embarking on the 10 hour dive from Houston plus expenses). After three more attempts to come out, finally a year later in October 2022, we came back. Before the start of the hunt, we spoke with Chris and he assured us that the property was scouted and held plenty of animals. In fact we pushed him on the subject as we did not want a repeat of the the last trip. After his assurances we made the 10 hour drive again. At the start of the hunt, however, our guide told us that he has not been to the property in a couple of weeks. And even though, the guide had recently seen aoudad in the area, they were not on Chris Leland's property. To add insult to injury, it turned out that Chris lost two of the leases we were supposed to hunt and we were relegated to a 40 acre plot of land located on Chris' homestead. Some hunt for free ranging aoudad!!! We still gave it a try and after three hunts did not see a single aoudad...None! When the guide called Chris Leland and asked him what do, Chris Leland just said "get something bleeding" and hung up. When we attempted to speak with Chris Leland directly, he simply blocked our calls. As a hunter, I understand that there are no guarantees in hunting, but this is ridiculous...Chris blatantly and knowingly misled us (Twice!). In reading the other reviews here on Google...it seems others have had the exact same experience. Total rip off and con job! read more
