The staff was super friendly and helpful. Jackson county should be proud of that facility. I was so excited and happy to get my perfect dog I forgot to ask if they take donations. The sitter was quick, professional and they even took care of my home while I was gone. They took in the mail, watered my plants and took out the garbage. I used Tender Love and Pet Cares services because I needed quick pet care but now I will be using their services every time I leave town.

I took my cat in because she had been throwing up. My cat is 8 and never been sick before. They…read moretold me they performed in house blood work and found a virus and wanted to start her on antibiotics. The doctor then called me and said he was concerned about my cat's health and wanted to do more blood work. He scared me into submission. They charged me over 300.00 for the extra blood work. When the results came back, turns out my cat is 100% healthy. It cost over 800.00 to find out my cat is healthy. When I asked to speak to a doctor about the bill, they started making excuses why a doctor couldn't speak with me. They said they would have one call me Monday. Never happened. Very unprofessional and dishonest. Do not use this clinic.
Being charged a fee for an exam after an exam was just completed 3 days prior at the same location…read more( Athens Area Humane Society) Is unethical. The only valid charge should be for the Bordetella vaccine. This is flat out gouging !! It's frustrating to see an organization that promotes compassion and care fail to extend those values to the people who support and rely on them. Receptionist was truly understanding and empathetic whereas the salt n pepper haired manager wavered her decision after asking "is it for the person standing there" . Don't patronize, use your Vet for $4 more . Yelp needs negative numbers for reviews- this would definitely be a -1 rating .

I would recommend AAHS to anyone looking for a new pet, whether it be a cat, dog or small animal. They really take the time to make sure you get paired with the right pet; they use the ASPCA's Meet Your Match Program to help with this pairing, plus the adoption counselors really know all the animals so well that they can steer you to the right animal for you! All adoptions include spay/neuter surgery, updated vaccines, a whole adoption packet to take home, collar, etc. plus lifetime advice and assistance from the staff. They have so many services available in addition to adoptions, too! They have monthly Pet Care Clinics with low cost vaccines, flea treatments, microchips and nail trims; their Spay & Neuter Center with low cost, high quality spays and neuters as well as other services at the time of surgery; and several other programs to help animals in our area.

We normally board our German Shepard at Wellspring Animal Hospital in Covington, but they were full…read morefor the time that we had requested. They recommend that we try their sister hospital in Social Circle. After using Wellsprings boarding service twice with no issues at all, it made sense to use Social Circle Veterinary Hospital. This turned out to be a very bad decision. On Monday, we took our dog over for a walk through 5 days before leaving him for boarding, to see if he would have problem. No issues were noted and they said that he was ok to stay there. Saturday, we brought him to start his stay. They ask me sign a letter permitting them to give him Trazodone to use for relief of anxiety. I signed it thinking that it would not be needed, nor was it used during his previous stays at the sister site. During our trip I called them on the Wednesday to see how he was doing, they put me on hold to check his status. They came back to the phone and said they he was ok, he was eating ok and had just been out side. No mention of any issues or problems. Came back to pick him up on Thursday, and they told me they had to use Trazodone starting the day we brought him in Saturday. We never received a call on Saturday while we were still here, now anything during our trip. They did not contact our son who was listed to be contacted if something should happen. When I called, they did not mention that they had been giving him Trazodone starting the day we dropped him off. GSD are known to be active; they apparently were not prepared for this and decide to use this as an excuse to do a money grab. They added a doctor office visit $78.00, 100mg Trazodone $39.50 and jacked up the boarding stay from $29.00 a day to $50.70. I talked with Maggie about this and she said that there was a problem with communication and that she was going to look into it. Lesson learned the hard way make sure you know where you are boarding our pet and don't sign any medication waivers. I'm very disappointed at the recommendation that Wellsprings made. Their sister hospital leaves a lot to be desired, clearly, they are not operated, equipped or staffed the same.

If I could add five more stars I would. After bring my boy KODI to three other animal hospitals for…read moreover a year with what I consider serious issues concerning blood in stool, diarrhea, not eating and lethargy. All three doctors at those facilities blamed his being overweight and diet. But the issues did not improve with new diets, pills and prescription food. We were frustrated and KODI was getting worse. I heard about Dr. Oh at Abbott Veterinary Hospital do I made an appointment. On our very FIRST visit, Dr.Oh climbed down on the floor and did a digital exam and found that KODI had a polyp that was causing at least most of the problem. We scheduled surgery with her to remove the polyp but during surgery Dr.Oh found that the polyp was larger than first examined and she indicated KODI needed to go to Blue Pearl for more extensive surgery. To sum up the story, KODI had a successful surgery, tumor was not malignant, and he is doing exceptionally well thanks to a wonderful Dr. Oh who took the time and care to do what being a veterinarian is all about...caring for those who have no voice. Heartfelt thank you to Dr. Oh.

The rescue is located in Dacula. The address is withheld because they don't want unwanted pet…read moredrops offs. The animals here are mostly cats ( some indoor some outdoor ) and a couple pigs and goats. All of the animals are rescues, pulled from animal controls all over the state ( and some out of state ) and many of them are found animals in dire need of help. The indoor cats are free to roam inside a small house. Those that are friendly will walk up to you and let you know. Those that are not as socialized as they should be, just walk away from you. It is the same for the community cat enclosure, which is mostly outside. These are cats that have always lived outside and may have previously been called "feral". Some of them want nothing to do with people, but get along well enough with the other animals there. They are all vaccinated, spayed/neutered and microchipped. Most of them are up for adoption. The goats and pigs are well cared for and get along with one another. The farm always needs volunteers for a variety of everyday things and larger projects. Use the website to fill out a volunteer form and someone will contact you for a short tour of the property.
