CHRISTIE BLOCK - HULME HALL
Christie is one of the worst accommodation blocks available to students in the Hulme Hall campus of the University of Manchester. The halls are dated, dirty and mismanaged, and I feel sorry for my friends who live there.
Ok, maybe that is a slight exaggeration, but in order to keep attracting students, Christie needs to considerably up its game. The rooms are of a fair size, but are dark, dirty (when a friend of mine moved in, her room was filthy) and haven't been updated since the late 1970's. Each room has a sink fitted in the corner, and the residents share communal bathroom facilities.
In each block, there is a small kitchenette, which is supposedly meant to serve upwards of 20 people, which features long-broken or out of date appliances. For example - the toaster in my friend's kitchen is too small to fit bread in. Slight problem there, methinks.
Still - halls are only for a year, and Christie offers a roof over your head, and provides you with sustenance to see you through the day. It just doesn't do it with much, if any style. ] read more
