He is somewhat new there, but he took his time, asked all the right questions so that I got the perfect cut--and, he offered me a veteran/military discount without me even having to bother. Got my first and last haircut from this place. My sides were severely un-even and the barber did nothing to my top. I believe it was lack of skill more than anything. He did a good job and giving me a fade and he tried to hold a conversation with me. I still gave a over 30% tip because I work for tips as well. No hard feelings towards my barber but was it worth it? No it wasn't. I saw other barbers really taking their time to make sure they gave others a really good cut so maybe I just got the rookie. I wish I could write a review about the haircuts at Hugo's, but my two experiences were just waiting for a haircut until I left. My first appointment was made over a year ago, where I sat in the waiting room for over 30 minutes and finally decided to leave. No one said anything to me outside of the initial check in. Same thing happened today. I decided to give it another chance since my normal barber just moved, and they're right down the street from me. I made an appointment checked in 5 minutes prior to the time. The receptionist was extremely rude and just said "k take a seat" no "thanks" or "it'll just be 'x' amount of time". I sat until 15 minutes after my appointment time, no one spoke to me or said sorry for the wait. So again I just left. If you aren't prepared to honor an appointment time, don't allow it to be set up. What a waste of time, and terrible customer service. read more

Been a customer for a while and today was the worst experience of my life. I booked an appointment with Gabe at the 11th ave location a week in advance for Friday. Today is Friday and I leave for vacation tomorrow morning very early. My appointment was at 3:15 and i got a call at measily 3 o clock telling me they needed to cancel the booking because he was running late.I told them the situation and that I was displeased and that they were putting me in a horrible position. Nonetheless neither the receptionist or the barber wanted to help me out or make anything work. So i have been scrambling around trying to get my hair cut at this point by anyone. Now I'm sitting in the waiting room of a barbershop I've never been to so I can pay for a haircut I most likely won't like for my entire vacation. I will never be back and it was completely unprofessional. Did not even offer me an appointment with another barber or anything. 0 stars. Horrible start to my vacation. read more

Every time I have made an appointment ( 3rd time) I still have had to wait at least 30 minutes. Last time after 35 min they sent me to another barber that I didn't want. From now on if I am not able to get in on a walk-in (which is rare) then I will go somewhere else. Great haircuts though. read more

Both my roommate and I got a haircut here. They didn't razor shave or wash. I was given an undercut and that was not what I asked for. Then my roommate went couple weeks later and same, gave him an under cut which was not what he asked for. No chance I will go back. Also the staff is not professional. Told the guy cutting my hair exactly how I wanted it and didn't get anything that I wanted. I showed him that I wanted only HALF an inch cut off the top of my hair because I liked to spike it. Before my haircut my hair was touching my eyebrows and when it was done I didn't have any hair left to spike in the front because he cut off over THREE inches of my hair. You could tell the guy was just rushing the haircut and didn't care at all about what I said. So I guess if you want your hair trimmed just tell them to take off 1/100 of an inch and maybe they'll get it right. I've had this problem several times with Hugo's Barbershop, this isn't my first. Not very concerned that I was waiting so long regardless of the conversations they had amunst one another using profanity. I've taken my son to Hugo's for haircuts for a couple years. Last 3 times he has had better haircuts at cost cutter than Hugo's. Asked for a fade all times and the barber didn't even fade his hair.. The whole point of taking to get the cut was to get a fade. Uneven, no fade, oh and hard to even think because they have loud rap music on all the time...very disappointed and will be going elsewhere. read more

Unless you want a buzz cut or fade this place is trash. I went in with a clear and literal picture of what I wanted done and ended up with something completely different that I hate. I also specified I wanted a scissor cut but halfway through he busted out the buzzer before I could say anything. He cut off 4 inches when I wanted 1 off at the most leaving me looking like I should be part of an emo or punk band. I'm honestly really pissed off, I want my hair back and my money. I discovered this shop has an absentee owner, with a manager who doesn't have the ability to treat his talented barbers very well. The shop looks very classy. This was the worst haircut experience of my life. I specifically requested for both a consult and haircut when scheduling the appointment. Upon arriving, the store opened 2 minutes late which served as an omen the hell that was to come. When I was finally sat down for the haircut my stylist just wanted to get started and get cutting. I showed him pictures told him my ideas and asked his opinions. I got little response and he appeared disinterested. Then during the actual haircut my stylist stops not once, not twice, but four times to watch the TV that's playing some football review. It was EXTREMELY unprofessional and showed how little he cared for his work. When the hair cut was done I looked in the mirror to see the worst haircut I've ever had. He had shaved that sides almost completely when I wanted them slightly shorter than they were. On top of that he barely touched the top of my head, only trimming 1-2 mm of hair. One of the main reasons for my haircut was to cut off split ends caused from hair coloring damage. So not only did this haircut not accomplish what I wanted it to, it also looked horrible. It was nothing like the photos or ideas I tried to discuss with the stylist. And at the end of the haircut he took off the drape on me and shooed me away to the front desk to pay. I was in such shock and rushed out the door that I didn't have time to ask them to fix it. I am beyond disappointed and very upset. And to top of this disaster I am a college student and cannot afford another haircut at a different establishment (that will actually care about their customers and the service they provide) for a while. I will never be coming back and will actively encourage people to steer away from the Barbershop from HELL!!! read more
