I began working with the Hughes Estate Group in 2008. I was executor for my fathers estate and he had set his Trust up using Hughes Estate Group and they had been referred to my father from his past employer. I had to enforce my power of attorney concerning my fathers fiduciary and healthcare needs as per his Trust. Shortly after navigating through my fathers Trust, my mother started having problems and I had to acquire power of attorney to take over for her. She did not have a Trust but had a Will. Craig and Amy guided me through the process of probate and enforcing the Will to gain the power of attorney needed to take over her fiduciary and healthcare needs (she inherited money from her father she held in investments that were separate from my fathers accounts and held mineral rights that paid royalties she inherited). Because of special circumstances my parents could not live together and I had to place them in separate Assisted Living facilities. I also had to turn over my mothers fiduciary and guardianship to a company that specializes in this kind of care. Craig recommended the company and walked me through every step of the process. I also had to have deeds drawn up for all of my mothers mineral rights and then file them with each county they were held in,this was about a 3/12 year process. My parents both passed in 2010 and I continued working with Craig and Amy for the next several years on the mineral deeds, setting up our own wills, my brothers will and a legal documents pertaining to co-ownership of a home between myself, my husband and my brother. Because of the special needs of our family dynamics, this required specialized help from Craig and Amy. I put my trust in Craig and Amy and can tell you it was a pleasure working with them. They went above and beyond in helping me navigate everything. They are the most honest, cost conscious people you could work with. I still tell people how cost effective they were and have referred them to many people over the years. Amy did most of the work on the mineral deeds and her knowledge with those was incredible. I called the office many times over the years and if either of them were unavailable I was called back the same day. Because they moved their office I googled Hughes Estate Group today and saw the review left from Kent C. I don't believe a word he wrote. I believe the gentlemen just didn't understand the terminology used in the Trust language and was overwhelmed with all the pressure from his brothers. It can take an emotional toll on you, I know because I lived it. The estate also lost monies due to the brothers and Kent C. hiring additional attorney's. This is more common than you think and happened with my mother and her siblings. Money can be the undoing of many when someone with money dies. read more

I worked with Craig extensively while he was representing Kent Carlsen. Craig or the Firm never borrowed $15,000 dollars from Kent. This is untrue. Kent approved everything Craig did. It was very difficult and expensive fighting Kent's brothers who challenged every move Kent made. There were numerous nights Amy, Craig, and I stayed up until 10:00 or 11:00 at night preparing documents and copies of documents. In the end, our work actually protected Kent. We won this case for him. His accusations are simply unfair and untrue. read more

I hired Craig Hughes to be the Estate attorney for my fathers estate. After over billing the Estate tens of thousands of dollars, Judge Judkins from the First District Court issued an Order for Craig Hughes to STOP being paid from estate funds. He billed the estate over $97,000 , The estate had only $128,000 in the trust account It is extremely rare for a Judge to do so. Why did Judge Judkins issue such an order to stop Craig Hughes from pilfering funds from the Estate? It was very apparent to all of the heirs of the estate and to Judge Judkins that Hughes was not doing the job he was hired to do. He over billed and got caught doing so. As a result of his mishandling the estate, tens of thousands of dollars were lost to rightful heirs. Please people, I don't want to see anyone get hurt. Do research, check references, talk to clients. If I had, the heirs would have received what they deserved instead of paying through the nose to Hughes Estate Group. After spending tens of thousands of dollars on paperwork,depositions, court dates and other civil proceedings, the results ended up as the trust and my father had desired, 13.5% each for 2 brothers and the rest of the business to the brothers who operated the business with the caveat of a lot less of the inheritance being distributed to the rightful heirs of the estate.Thousands of wasted expenditures could have been stopped by following the wishes of my father and the written plan that should have been executed upon his death.
