While on the surface there is little to distinguish this from other newsagents... in fact other ones probably look better, and are more spacious and comfortable, but this shop has one thing which sets it aside. This shop has absolutely the most insane deals every day. As you walk in you are greeted with an entire shelf of stock which is on special offer. These range from the standars (buy 1 get 1 free) to absolutely baffling (buy one tin of peaches get 3 mars bars free. Really it is a little adventure everytime you go in.

I have to admit, I spend more time in the Accessorize side than the Monsoon side, though. Really cute jewelry/accessories with a vintage-y or ethnic vibe. I've acquired many scarves, necklaces, and earrings over the years. Some people compare this place to Claire's in the States. I don't agree. I think the Accessorize/Monsoon stuff is more stylish and made with better quality material. (Plus, I'm so glad they ship to the States now! Yeah!)

It's a small boutique but I was drawn in one day by bright shiny bags on the window display. I ended up walking out with a lovely dress for the sum of €65 and it's one of those dresses that is slightly unusual and has been admired by many people since. Staff in there are friendly and manage not to seem like they're watching you even if you're the only person in there (which happens...it's small!). It's a bit hit and miss-sometimes there are lots of things I'd like, other days I won't see anything at all that takes my fancy, but it's reasonably priced and a great option for slightly unusual pieces. The accessories they stock are lovely-have to exercise great self-control to avoid bag shopping! So, if you're in the area, definitely pop in and have a nose around. You never know what you might find. And there's the added bonus of feeling like you've found somewhere special that nobody else knows about ;-)

"We should sell clothes, but also frame pictures!" -"Y'know what else we could sell?...........Bikes." -"We are going to be millionaires." That is actually what Cultured sells. Clothes, pictures and em, bicycles. But amidst the hippy culture frenzy of Temple Bar, it all kind of makes sense. After all, we're talking about a part of Dublin filled with homeless people and affluent tourists, so it's all about mix and match really. I haven't bought a bike or bought clothes here, but I did pick up a framed Wizard of Oz still for twenty quid. Which is pretty good value. Check Cultured out, you'll probably never be in a shop where you can buy a vintage Coca cola poster and spokes in the same place ever again.
