The Iowa DNR has caused/allowed Blue Lake to drop 8' - leaving it impossible to boat in the lake. And they spent YEARS literally neglecting this park. They just don't care - and it shows. What once was a beautiful and heavily used park has become a ghost town - and for good reason. Years ago it was a really nice park. Now it's not - and this is completely on the Iowa DNR.

Bottom line...she wants to fight and argue and then kick you out and call the sheriff!!!! It was bizarrely funny. Anita is a super cute small town packed with charm and this state park is the perfect place to rest and relax and stretch your legs. They have nice basic facilities and a little free library you can peruse. It is a wonderful park and well kept. It's become one of my favorite places in Iowa to visit and my fondness grows each time.
