I've been looking for a good jeweler since we moved here in March. My husband took my wedding ring…read morewith a bent prong along with a ring I just inherited that is over 60 years old along for a "what shape is it in?" inspection. They fixed the prong, cleaned and inspected both rings and he was out of there with the rings in his pocket in under 30 minutes! Call me suspicious but I'm just not comfortable taking my rings to a big-box retailer and having them shipped who-knows where to get a simple repair. Three weeks for a bent prong? No thanks! I'll just stick with someone local who can get it done here. I also have some really old jewelry that need very specific repairs and I'm not anxious to trust them getting shipped off and lost. Sure, there's always insurance but it won't replace your grandmother's ring when the big retailer can't find it.

Ballash Woodworks is a great, obscure date experience. This unique craftsman's workshop is owned…read moreand operated by Mr. Kurt Ballash and family. Kurt has an interesting story. Check it out on his website @ ballashwoodworks.com. So basically you can book a workshop, via the website, to "hands-on" learn how to build, craft and design a wooden product from raw materials to finished product. This involves picking the materials and using all of the necessary machinery to complete your product. Our niece scheduled this outing for her, her parents, the wife and I (The 4 Amigos) to partake in a couples crafting workshop; thanks JT. Be warned, this experience is not for the faint of heart. You should really be prepared for the following: * If you go in the winter time, you will be cold. So dress accordingly! * This is a real, fully functioning place of work. It is not fancy! So dress accordingly! * If you are weak, clumsy or both, don't go. You can get hurt. (No one was injured during our workshop) * If you are uber sanitary, don't go! Bathrooms would not meet your standards. * If you are unable to stand for long periods of time, don't go! It is mostly standing room only. Now with that being said, if you are adventurous, good with your hands or like to try new things... RUN book your session immediately. Sessions includes access to materials, equipment, guidance from experts and lunch. Think of this experience as Sip and Paint without the paint and certainly without the booze. My group and I had a great time! Kurt and his team of experts were awesome!! To be honest, pictures are worth a thousand words, and that could not be more true than in this case here. Enjoy the photos :) Recommendation level - Very High
