I was in an accident 7 years ago and after many visits he gave my husband and I his person cell number for emergencies. Thank god for that because I was in another accident and I sent him a text. He got me on meds asap and made time in his day to see me. You will not find a better doctor than him!!

I wonder if Noran reads these reviews, or if they just don't care. Our son has suffered a terrible…read moreillness for 20 years and he is only 37, so do the math. We have had good doctors helping him until he moved to a Saint Paul. Then it became difficult to find a doctor who understood and knew at least something about the illness. It took us a while, but we did find an excellent dr who is connected to Noran. Prior to him, the first doctor we saw there didn't seem to care. Then we were assigned to a nurse practitioner who was was unqualified to deal with the illness. After complaining, we were finally given an excellent doctor who DOES know about the illness and cares a lot. . Our son has been stable but between 2019 and 2020 serious flare ups started occurring. Our doctor kept at it and prescribed, among many other medications, IVIG. Thus our son needed to go to the Lake Elmo clinic for IVs. When Covid hit, and he came to live with us in Wisconsin. He was able to get his IV treatment at a local hospital in Milwaukee. His experience for over a year and half there was wonderful. He was treated kindly and with respect. Then he returned to Minnesota and back to Noran. Things changed for him. We were told that he was a "hard stick" and that he should go somewhere else. Well, he can't drive at this moment and he had transportation via relatives. It was working well for him. But at the next appointment, it was difficult finding a vein and we were told the clinic has no ultra sound to find one and that equipment is too expensive, they aren't trained to run it anyway, and storage would be an issue for it. So we were told to basically go away. Really? Too expensive? So is their fancy waiting room with its big fireplace! As for storage, it's a small piece of equipment that fits on a cart. As for training, if a clinic claims to be a comprehensive infusion center it should have the right equipment and training to serve a customer! We don't care about snacks, a comfy chair, games, television, etc., while getting an infusion! And The staff from the front desk on is rude (not the first time we ran into this). We, of course found him a different infusion center and his good doctor is connected to it, but the transportation issue has become more challenging and this shouldn't be. As clinics and hospitals are getting fancier and fancier, they are missing what a patient really and truly needs, and Noran is no exception.

Dr. John Alexander Damergis Jr. has helped me enormously in getting the restful sleep a body and…read moremind needs! My sister recommended him to me when I complained to her about how tired I felt every single day! Dr. Damergis scheduled a sleep study for me, which showed severe restless leg syndrome (RLS) 84X's/hr, with slight arousal each time, and sleep Apnea (cessation of breathing) 7 X's/hr. He prescribed medication for the RLS, and a CPAP for breathing assistance. Additionally, he had me keep records of the time I take medication, the time I go to bed, the time I think I went to sleep, times of waking during the night, and time I get up for the day. Looking over these records, he exclaimed, "You're a "Night Owl!", adding that if I try to fight Mother Nature, I will lose! He recommended a bedtime no earlier than 1:00 A.M. Following all his instructions has changed my life! I sleep well, wake ready for the day, and am now more productive and happy than I can remember! Thank God for Dr. John Alexander Damergis Jr. of the Noran Clinic downtown Minneapolis! Incidentally, he's booked for months out, but he's worth the wait.

My father has been a patient of Dr Minette for many years, and the care and treatment he has…read morereceived as his symptoms and diagnosis have become more complicated, has become shockingly poor. The clinic's inability to manage his care; for example, recently cancelling an appointment at the doctor's request (an appointment he had waited months for) only to offer the next available in OCTOBER. My mother spent :30 minutes on the line with the appointment setter (the number given to her when the appointment was cancelled), and was told no other option was available. A week later, when my dad's new internist raised concerns about the lack of diagnostic detail or care plan in his neurology file, I called to speak with his care team. The nurse I spoke to was lovely and explained we should never call appointments and only call them (something that is very confusing to follow considering the instructions they provide say something different) and also helped get my dad in to see the doctor four days later so his increasing challenges could be addressed. To my total disappointment, my mother returned from the appointment and said Dr Minette was dismissive, told her she should have figured out his current med mix was causing some of his issues by googling it herself, asked her where she had come up with the questions she was asking, seemed to be openly annoyed that I had voiced my concerns about the care he was receiving, and referred my mom to the Alzheimer's Association for any further questions. I work in geriatric care and know how difficult memory care and cognitive decline can be to treat, but nothing is more difficult than watching your loved one disappear and seeing their caregiver show a lack of empathy and curiosity about how they can try to help. My father has been resistant to changing his doctor, but this most recent series of incidents leaves us with little other choice. If you are looking for a provider who can support complicated presentations of Alzheimer's, I urge you to look elsewhere.
