The entire park is nestled up against the beautiful water. Today the tress were green & a breeze cooled the temperature as the sun was shining bright. What a HAPPY place! There's a 24/7 boat ramp w/ trailer parking. (Boat launching/trailer parking is $5 daily.) This park is six acres on the Gulf of Mexico. According to the website, there are 1,900 feet of beach frontage, 200 feet of swimming area, & 290 feet of beach front w/ fishing access. There are picnic tables, charcoal grills, a pedestal shower, restrooms, water fountains, a bike rack, a playground for very young children, swings, & at least five pavilions. (One is two story, although the second story serves only as an observation deck.) Sam's on the Beach & Inn on the Gulf are located on the park grounds; there's a large parking lot that attempts to accommodate the park & the businesses. According to multiple articles, finding a parking space in the evening (pre pandemic) was a major challenge. He showed us what to do, and what not to do and was very helpful and patient with me; I'm new to snorkeling. He and my fiancé could talk for hours about fish and the gulf. Werner Boyce's entrance fee is based on the Honor System: $3 per vehicle, $2 for hiker/cyclist, & $4 w/ a debit/credit card payment. Use a blue envelope to drop your fee into the payment station, & place the envelope's stub on your vehicle's dash. (Visitors can even pay w/ a check made out to Dept. of Environmental Protection.) The park includes 4 miles of coastal water on the Gulf of Mexico. According to the website, park goers will enjoy hiking, birdwatching, boating, fishing, picnicking & wildlife watching. There's a half mile hiking trail & a picnic pavilion; I counted six tables & a few grills. Beside the parking lot, visitors will see the kiosk; there were no park maps available today even though today was Day 1 after reopening. During normal times there is a kayak rental, although there is no boat ramp. Group camping & primitive camping will be available (again) in the near future. Trees & shrubs are labeled, the creeks/springs are gorgeous, & signs warning of alligators are plentiful. (I fear gators, unfortunately.) No net fishing or swimming @ this park. I enjoyed the sign that states that scuba diving is also not allowed. Scuba diving??? Lol. Will definitely return; it's too beautiful of an area not to!

Some of what's included is a basketball court, picnic tables & grills, a swimming hole, a boat ramp, lots of parking, beautiful tree cover, & sunshine. And it's free-- well, paid for w/ tax money. The small boat ramp is perfect for canoes, kayaks, & small-engined boats. There are ten parking spaces for boat trailers. There are two shelters, & lots of individual picnic tables & charcoal grills. There's even a baby swing & a small playground. And there's a bathroom. There's also beach access, but no life guard, & there are designated fishing areas. There's a shower available, as well as a drinking fountain. There's also a bike rack & a path that encircles the park. Unfortunately, the park is closed at this time except to boaters. When fully open, this would be a great place to hold a birthday party or any type of kids' gathering.

My dad treated me to a half-day trip July 3rd 2018. I had never caught a Snook before and my dad, who has fished with Captain Dustin several times previously, specifically requested that he put us on some Snook. The Captain did his part and I landed a 37" beauty that bolted like lightning when hooked, peeling line off the reel (what a beautiful sound!). In addition to the snook the other primary request was to catch some great table fare. Here again, Captain Dustin did his part and we had plentiful fish for the table, a nice mix that day of Speckled Sea Trout and Spanish Mackerel. I will ALWAYS set aside a day to fish with Captain Dustin any time I'm in the Tampa Bay area.
