Short story: went there, loved it, recommend it to anybody who's fond of mixology.
Longs story: I live in neighborhood, for 12 years now, but I discovered this place rather accidentally. It was rainy day and pretty good talk while walking. The sign "Hudson Bar" caught our attention and reminded me of Thomas Hudson, a character from "Islands in the Stream" by Ernest Hemingway. So, we decided to give it a shot.
Very cosy place with tasteful furniture and intimate warm atmosphere. It feels like you're back in the past, where people knew how to have a good time with amazing drink in their hand and a music that makes you want to dance. After I opened the menu, I was completely blown away and sucked in to it. Because it's not just a cocktail list - it's a story. It's about Thomas Hudson (contains really nice excerpts from the book). I think it was first time in my life that I was actually reading menu and was so excited as I was holding a book in my hand.
One of the good signs of a professional bar - they serve water first. Because when you drink pure alcohol, it makes your mouth dry, you feel incredible thirst later in the night and you'll be drunk very soon. To avoid that - drink water, ladies and gentleman! :-) Cocktails are big, very delicious and personal. They always ask you how'd you like to have your drink: special whisky or maybe special serving. Apart from that, you can order even something you tried once in Seattle and never had a chance to try it again, because nobody serves it. If you'd say what was in there - you'll get it. And, of course, you can always get a great recommendation from a bartender: tell them what you want and you'll get what you like.
And I would also love to mention music. Last time I was there the choice of the evening was tango, before that - jazz. Amazing!
A must for anybody who knows how to treat one self. Oh yes, and the prices, in my opinion, aren't that high. I mean, you can definitely pay 9€ for delicious cocktails. And not forget to mention that bar is opened only on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. read more
