The day I fell in love with my banking branch. I'd been spending some of my well earned cash on well, frankly overly priced goods that 'I just had to have', girl's prerogative isn't it? Yes, yes it is. Well somewhere between grabbing my card from the cashier and clamouring my bags all together, my cash card had, to what I believed vanished from my trusty card holder. Damnation. Immediate panic ensues and going immediately to the irrational place I was convinced my bank account had already been wiped and I'd been the victim of credit card fraud in at least five countries. So we're all getting the impression I was slightly neurotic at this point. Hark the HSBC. I wandered in, and I will add, it wasn't my home branch, but nonetheless, I blurted out the basics of what had happened, and that I didn't quite know what to do now, but I was panicked as it was near Christmas and I'd just been paid etc etc. A nice lady assistant, I didn't have my spectacles on and couldn't see what her name badge read, but she was very pretty I gather and had a longish brunette head of hair swept back into a loose ponytail. Lady assistant calmed me down, offered me a glass of water, I declined due to a bottle of power fluid in my bag, and talked me through what I needed to do, if I didn't grasp what I needed to do she'd come over and help me, but for the meantime I was pointed to a red phone (very Batman and Robin) and after dialling the appropriate number, and confirmation I was who I was saying I was, my card was promptly cancelled from the time I first noticed my card missing. I was told my chequebook would also become void as a precaution and not to worry about anything, and new cards and details would be sent out to my home address, and if in the meantime I needed to withdraw any money, lady assistant could help me out with that also. How helpful is that? I was actually really shocked at how pleasant, helpful, and swift everything was. I have never had any major issues with HSBC, and I like the little details like there's always two people at the front of the branch to lead you to the appropriate department, and that there are machines inside the branch for those conscientious about using external ATM machines. I can't fault it. Hence the rating. read more
