In the review it says we "won't give you an actual price", however all of our pricing is on our contracts which are completed and signed by the client prior to our engagement. If you are unsure, we are more than happy to discuss in detail with you.
Yes, our inspections do start from $299+GST, however if you want us to inspect a 24 room property with 3 separate structures, spread over 2 sites, then this takes a considerable amount of time and would therefore be priced accordingly.
The $1,400 being for "absolutely nothing" is totally incorrect as it was for time taken to carry out the inspection onsite (approximately 4 hours), plus time taken to look at property file documents, analyse over 200 Thermal IR images, discuss findings over the phone, travel costs, and most importantly, it gave the client the information necessary to determine that they would not be proceeding with the purchase of the said property.
Our client seemed very grateful on the phone for the information we gave following our inspection, where we discussed the major areas of failure. At HS Building Inspections we give the option to proceed with a written report or if instructed we only charge for what has been carried out thus far. Our client indicated twice to just stop, they didn't require a written report and they wouldn't be proceeding with the potential purchase.
Don't worry if you change your mind at any stage, we can help, but just because you have changed your mind and no longer require a written report as you have all the information you need to make your decision, doesn't mean that you don't have to pay for the work that has already been carried out. That the client also questioned if we had even carried out the inspection (a question that is flabbergasting in itself) could have easily been verified by the agent, or the vendor who was present during the entire inspection.
The assumption that we have "a lot of practice with angry customers" is totally incorrect. To the contrary, we in fact have a lot of repeat business and also past clients recommending our services to others.
