Enjoyed our visit with the chocolate wonderland!…read more Twenty minutes train ride from Zurich HBF. Then another 10 mins walk from the train station to the museum which is all good since we enjoyed walking along Lake Zürich. Interesting history of the evolution of Lindt chocolates. Audio guided tour and unlimited free tasting with their chocolate fountains for $22 entry ticket is worth it. Highly recommended when you're in Zurich.

We had an amazing time here -- it's super cheap, a great bargain. But, book a month or so in…read moreadvance!! It books-up! Do NOT use the third party vendors who buy up the tickets and resell them for 3x the price... get it yourself but plan. We didn't, though... we didn't know what our schedule was. On their website, it says to not try to come if you don't have a reservation but they were nice enough to get us tickets for our family. We really took the time to listen to each and every thing on the audio guide and it was really impressive learning about things that we take for granted, like what it takes to just gather cocoa beans and the stages that goes through. Then, chocolate history in Europe then over to Switzerland and the region's history. It really makes you appreciate it. The tasting room is really fun, where it comes out as liquid and you try a variety of chocolate. Then, you see the other side of the room with the different flavors that go into the chocolate and it breaks you off different varieties of chocolate, which you can taste how fresh the different ingredients are. It really feels like Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory, but, like Willy Wonka, I wish they had trap doors for the many, many 'Augustus Gloop' types who steal sooooo much chocolate. You're supposed to check-in your bags for guys like the one we were following who was stuffing the samples over and over again into every pocket, then little bags he brought. It was crazy and so greedy. Then, later, you take a sample of each of their Lindor varieties but, yet again, the greedy people can't help but steal like crazy. It's a little depressing, honestly, how people can't just behave. Anyway, sorry about the rant... I just hate seeing them getting ripped off. It's a really nice tour and just being on the only site the company has ever been on is amazing history. Also, the café at the end is really great too... we had a great lunch. If you take the time to really listen to the history, you'll need a solid two hours, possibly three if you want to relax and have lunch. This is the perfect rainy-day activity.

Desperate for a non-gendered toy for a two-year-old tyke, I ventured into this place on a whim…read more While there was a corner of the shop I would call The Pink Zone, the majority of the shop floor seemed to be dedicated to toys for kids, in general. Those looking to purchase pink fairy wands and blue hammers may well be disappointed here! In the back room of the store, in addition to board games, puzzles, cards and marbles, I was delighted to find kid-sized cookery tools, wooden fruit and veg, bottles of 'milk' and strings of 'sausages' and a hearty-looking 'ham' or two. My fav would have to be the wooden food already halved but held firmly together with velcro meant to be sliced in two with a wooden knife! Forgoing the knife, I tore open an egg-shaped piece that turned out to be a kiwi fruit! If a 40-something-year-old chick can be so delighted by wooden fruit, then I should certainly hope little-uns would be as well! The best part of my experience at Trottinette would have to have been the gift-wrapping experience. Not only was I asked if the purchases were a gift, but I was also asked if they were a birthday gift or a 'birth' gift, if that makes sense. I guess the distinction would have made a difference in what wrapping paper would have been used. The gal who wrapped up my purchases used lovely paper and bows. The gifts looked stellar!

I was taking a walk on Seefeld yesterday, and I simply had to stop and check out this store. What…read moredrew me in were the beautiful wooden toy houses in several models, colors and sizes, but once I was in I could see there was so much more! If you dread the current selection available at most toy stores, with all the plastic, loud sounds and battery operated garbage, you will find the selection available at Trottinette most refreshing. I was on my own, and I hadn't planned on doing any toy shopping (nor do I on most days, I tend to go for shoes and accessories... for myself), but this place... I literally had to fight the urge to sit on the floor and start playing, which is somewhat embarrassing to admit, but might give you an idea. I didn't know if I had landed in Wonderland or in Santa's workshop: all the beautiful wooden and fabric toys, clearly handmade... beautiful. If you know a little girl or boy who might like a toy house, this is without a doubt the best place to get it; it won't be cheap, but it will last for ages and it will be something they will keep coming back to, not get bored of quickly. There are tons of accessories and characters of all sorts for doll houses, and there are cars, wooden kitchens and food markets, musical instruments, drawing sets, beautiful pop-up books... If you have to shop for a child, you will definitely find something here. One caveat: it might take you a lot longer to get your shopping done, because you will find yourself sticking around for a while, browsing and tryoung out some of the merchandise - I dare you not to!
