Quality service is poor too expensive. The work there they were supposed to be doing cause an error. Constantly turned off the valves costing us hundreds of dollars in heating the whole pool instead of just the hot tub. They did not clean the salt port of our pool for months, which caused it to break and needed a new part. They also had a warranty on it, which they said they would not cover because of neglect of the part. And then slapped us with a $1400 bill for replacement. read more

Tech washed my filter and put the hose in the pool to top it off during maintenance visit on 11/6, never shut it off and left!! Got notification from Utilities Department (Water dept) on 11/12 stating a 36,000 gallon usage!!! Had a friend go over and found hose running & pool overflowing!! Sent copies of water dept. emails to Howards and have heard nothing.... applied for an abatement and Howards will be getting the overage use bill once it arrives! We're on our third tech in 4 months. The service is very inconsistent. The tech does not have an accurate salinity tester so he used the one I bought from Amazon. We've called the supervisor 5 times about various concerns and they never relay it to the tech. The final straw was a temp showed up yesterday and cleaned our neighbors pool for free (even though our address is clearly visible). We're done with this bad service. read more

We have had Howards for approx. 3 years. The turn over for techs is often. Occationally we get a good tech. Unfortunately they are gone soon after as they ship them off somewhere else or they quit and go to a different company. On 1/14/26 we had a new unannouced tech show up. Unfortunately I was not home. When I arrived home that afternoon, my neighbor said he is hearing water leaking near our pool equipment. Upon my inspection I found both the filter cover and in-line pump to filter pipe leaking. The tech had not installed the filter cover correctly and cross threaded the ring so tight it caused the fitting coming from the pump to the filter to leak as well. The rate of the leak would cause damage to the pump in time due to water loss. I called Howards with my concerns. They said they would send out the tech the next day. At this point, I no longer trust Howards or the new techs ability to do the job correctly. I canceled service and hired a new pool service. read more

quality of service has really gone down the drain..they limit cleanings to 30 minutes. looks like they hire quick but may not train and they are not checking into staff to make sure paid service is performed. they require weekly babysitting which is new & not preferred. third time I get home to a black pool. We can't even get a call back or response to email. At this point all we can do is dispute charges & cancel the card to prevent further funds be collected for services they clearly never provided. We have been using Howard over 15 years but now have to find a new solution due to the diminishing quality or non existent service. So sad....this is how loyalty is rewarded these days read more

They are a hit or miss company...sometimes you get good service - sometimes you walk out and the pool doesn't look good at all. The technicians fluctuate. Then they charge you by the week not the month. So instead of being $145 a month it turns out to be more like $165 and then they add fuel surcharge and other fees. Communication is poor because they have so many customers they can't keep up. Unfortunately I referred several people and they feel the same - so sad. read more

For over two decades, Howard's Pool World has serviced our pool and equipment. The techs are here every week and only change their schedule when a holiday occurs. Our pool is sparkling clear every week. Sometimes, our tech brings along a trainee so I know the new employees are well trained. Whenever our equipment has an issue, we call the office and the problem is taken care of in 24 hours or less. We had very good service for 8 years, then horrible for the past year. The guy who cleaned it was ok, but the customer service was terrible. Also, we installed a new pump in Sept, 2022. In May 2023, it went out and was replaced (still under warranty). Six months later it went out again. We contacted Howard's and told them there was clearly another problem making our pump go out. A technician came and told us we needed another pump (this one not under warranty because it goes back to the original pump's 1 year warranty). We took the motor somewhere else and had it repaired. It went out 2 weeks later. Obviously there was another issue! We tried again to tell this to Howard's. After a rude encounter with customer service, we fired them and hired another company. They came and told us the pump was going out because a seal plate was not replaced, which stopped the flow of water and caused the pumps to go out. They replaced the pump and all is well. This was all we asked of Howard's...to please check and see what was causing our pumps to quit working. read more

***Update*** After contacting the company and requesting to speak with the owner directly they replied to my review but denied my request to speak with the owner. The BS in their response is exactly the attitude I received. They stole my filter and never had my permission to replace it. As a response to their reply: Most businesses with responsible business practices never have to use a collection company. People are willing to pay for the service requested not for what they don't. $462 for a $200 commonly bought filter is not price matching, it is price gouging. The initial review is below. For the last three years we have hired Howard's Pool World to take care of our pool for one month in the fall when we go out of town to work. It costs $100 for a month. I take care of it the rest of the year. Once we came home to the water level being real low but other than that no major issues. When we left a month ago I cleaned the filter and checked the chemicals. The pool was clear and beautiful. This past week after a month away we came home to a cloudy pool. I called and they sent someone by. By the time I put my shoes on they were gone. The pool looked exactly the same. A quick look at the skimmer basket showed it hadn't been cleaned all month. I checked the chemicals myself the PH was through the roof and chlorine level was nonexistent. No big deal. It took 6 cups of acid to balance the PH. That is a ton. Never have I put more than 2 cups in to balance the PH. In less than an hour our pool was clear and beautiful again. Then I received a call from Howard's to let me know the status of my pool. We were still unpacking from a month away. This was the day we got home. I called back and talked to Tammy. She informed me that the pool was great. I told her what I had to do to make it great after the tech did nothing. She was rude and told me I know nothing about pool chemistry. Then I received a call from Jessica who continued the narrative that my pool was messed up when they took over and they had been working to get it right. I asked how come the pool was clear and beautiful when I left and I could hardly see the bottom after the month they were looking after it. She then got rude and I ended the conversation. No big deal right? Then when I was going through our mail from the last month I come across a bill from Howard's. Charging me $400 for a filter and $65 for an o-ring. I never received a call about the filter. I never authorized a filter being changed. I cleaned our old filter the day before we left. It was in decent condition, no different than it looked for the last couple years. I looked the filter up online. It was readily available for under $200 everywhere. The O-ring was $12 at Amazon Prime. Of course I called at 9am the next morning. It took till 4:30pm to get a call back. This time it was Will, supposedly a supervisor. When I asked why it took all day for a call he said he was in the field all day. I told him about this tech revolution a few years back called a cellular phone. He said it would be too dangerous to call me while he was in the field. Seriously? Will then told me a different reason my pool was "jacked up". He told me the chemicals in my pool were perfect, even though the water was cloudy. He said, "Chemistry and clarity are two different things." Then when I asked about charging me for the filter. I asked what happened to my filter and why would they charge me without authorization. He said it didn't matter I didn't authorize the almost $500 charge, "That is what collection agencies are for." Really? I hired them for $100 to take care of my pool for a month and return home to a bill of $600. Not to mention my pool pump was turned on manually. We have been using Howard's Pool for about 6 months. Trevor is our Technician and is wonderful. He shows up every Monday like clock work and has always greeted us with a pleasant "hello". Being new to the area, we have had to set up accounts with several service companies, and it can be frustrating at times--no return calls, not standing by their work, etc. Howard's has always come through and stand by their service. Poor customer service. We ended our service ended over a year ago. Obtained a final bill, paid the bill then 11 months later I receive another bill. It seems like many months with service we had to call the office because some part of the service we paid for had. It happened. Different pool tech all the time. Nothing consistent. He's friendly, polite and always informs us about changes with our pool. Anytime we've had questions, he's taken the time to explain things which we appreciate. Howard's team is very knowledgeable, courteous and efficient. Since our pool is getting old we wondered if we would need resurfacing soon. Will explained what could be done now to get the pool looking good and buy us a little time before we needed to pay for resurfacing. In addition, Donald, the pool tech who cleans and tests the water in our pool weekly, never cuts corners in making sure our pool is in great shape. Great service and honest! Bought a house and when I moved in the previous owner had quit maintaining the pool and it turned into pea soup. Howard's quoted a fair price, explained what was required and said it would probably take 5 treatments. I was traveling, didn't know what they did but told me when I got back it only took 3 treatments and I would be getting a statement credit, which I did! Todd is out every Tuesday; friendly, competent and honest. Never tries to up-sell any 'special' treatments. Office staff is also easy to work with any questions or concerns are promptly handled. They can clean pools and spas, but in my opinion their service is terrible, at least that has been my experience. I have receipts to prove my claim. They told me I needed a spa motor, I told them to replace it. They replaced it 3 times, I was outraged, finally told them I would have an electrician check it out. They kept replacing the motor with the incorrect phase motor every time, They seized every motor every time, ended up having an ordinary electrician repair the problem, 3 years later still have the motor working fine. I continued to have them simply clean my spa, which they do well. Repairs NEVER! read more
