This place is great! I've had take out a few times and have not been disappointed. They've got a great selection on the menu. I've only had their cheese burgers and fries so far and they are delicious! I will have to give some of the other items a try. The ladies that work there are friendly too! Exactly what you expect from a hamburger stand, good cheap food. Ordering is a breeze at the window, priced correctly. The wait does take a bit, but it's worth it. The place reminds me of how my parents ordered food when they were younger, or how my grandparents came to know fast food. Keeping the old school alive. Love love love Howard's! They're food is incredible and the have the best chocolate swirl ice cream! The only problem is that their hours are all over the place and they take foreverrrr to get your order ready if you want to take it to go or order at the drive through. But if you dine in your food is ready in minutes. ‍ Also, I called to see what time they close and she said 9 but they stop serving dinner at 8:30 and when I asked about ice cream she just said "No." I guess it's just a family owned business thing but when you call and sometimes you're told they close at 8 p.m. and sometimes they say 9 p.m. but you can't order anything past 8:30? Doesn't make sense! Again three stars because I never get the same answer twice when it comes to hours and operations, and they are really slow to to go orders. read more

I spent the weekend in Monahans just for relaxation. I'd seen this restaurant my last visit as it is next to an Asian restaurant where I ate. The service was good and the prices were lower than I am use to.. The burger was tantalizing and the fries were tasty. I like the old school look of the place, also. I have now revisited Howard's about 4 times to date. And the last time will not be my last time. read more

Great for a quick cheap bite during school lunch or passing through the area. It has always been there as long as I can remember and served the same quality of food. It's not the best but it will do! It's cheap, has a drive thru and plenty of seats inside, as well as restrooms! Not too busy on the side street and easy to get to. Every time I visit, theres a new cashier or cook but the same owner runs it. Never any hassle or mistakes. Beware: They automatically spread mustard on your burger, be sure to address that, if your a mayo man as myself! read more

Howard's Drive In has the very BEST VANILLA CREAM COKE in town!! Nobody in this town makes them like they do!!! First they put ice in whatever size cup you want, then they add a coke, next they put one squirt of Vanilla Extract (it's in a pump container) and then they open up the refrigerator and get the carton (like milk comes in) of CREAM...that is to die for!!! (It's what they use to pour into their ice cream machine to make ice cream!) So when you get it...this is what I do so it is mixed up real good...you have to raise the straw up so the bottom of the straw is about half way up in the cup and then very carefully blow, don't blow too hard or you will end up wearing it!! Then carefully place your straw on the bottom and drink!! I always ask for: A Vanilla Cream Coke With Lots Of EXTRA CREAM!!! And this is a very delicious drink!! I LOVE LOVE IT!!!!! Absolute worst service I've ever encountered, and I've been here twice to give them a second chance prior to submitting a bad review. My first experience was dining in, it took a 'waiter' 5 min to even acknowledge my existence because she was too busy gossiping behind the counter, even after multiple 'ahems' from other people who were also waiting and starting to get annoyed, and upon receiving my food, I had to send two items back to be corrected. And my second less than successful attempt at giving this poor excuse of a food establishment a shot was thru the drive. I waited in line for 20 min only to pull up to the window at 8:45pm to be told they were no longer taking orders. There were multiple people inside doing nothing who could've gotten off their lazy behinds to tell myself and the other 2 cars behind me that they were no longer taking orders. Do yourself and wallet a favor and skip this subpar mess of a restaurant and just grab McDonald's.. you'll have a better experience there, I'd bet money on it! read more

This place has been here since 1964, and aside from a few minor changes, looks like it. It's pretty cool inside with the walk-up counter and the old bucket bench seats. It's a typical hamburger joint with loads of greasy food. I ordered a small cheeseburger and a small onion ring. The food was reasonably priced. The food was delicious. The burger was large, mostly for a small, and the onion rings weren't too greasy. Definitely a good lunch spot if in the area. read more

Great place! Very 1950s burger joint style. Burgers were excellent; I'd recommend getting a small burger unless you're really hungry; same with the fries. They have burgers, chicken, shakes, hot dogs, etc, and it's all quite good. If you're looking for a burger while in Monahans, can't do better! read more

This drive In has the BEST swirled cones in a five mile radius. So creamy, rich and decadent. It really fills a feller up and then some. They have some real good hamburgers too. read more

The food was alright but they managed to get all 3 burgers in my to go order wrong. Left out one burger entirely so they asked for the whole bag back to open the others and check. I assumed that meant that the others were done right. Instead my double patty jalapeño bacon was a regular cheeseburger and the other burger didn't have all the dressings. I guess just expect it to be slow and double check your order. read more
