If you are a woman, do not go here. I'm a man and went with my friend who is a woman to report her ex harassing and breaking into her home, they made us wait in the lobby for a hour, finally my friend was just so upset and tired of waiting and we decided we'd go to a more sufficient police station. I'd also just like to say I respect cops that do they're job to serve the people, your sitting at the front desk to help the people that come in are you not?

Not only what I saw, heard & experienced, but how others around in the wait room were also treated. Regardless what your situation or report is, they don't care, & they never will. As if they really enjoy being ass wipes all day long treating & talking to others like cattle. They will not show any type of compassion or a single once of sympathy. I can't comprehend why they choose to work for our state & for our community when it shows that they hate their job with a passion. At least during my wait time I had plenty of time to find another alternative to seek out for help in regards of my case. After a wait of 2-3 hours they took my statement for the report, & they came back with only a simple flyer, & then proceeded to dismiss me.

So I came to this station to make a report. It wasn't any cars outside and I assume it was closed down. Luckily my friend jumped out and it open. Officer Anderson took me and my friend report on this freezing night. And he even came outside to see the damage. Very nice guy! He called once I got home to verify my plates and make sure I made it.

As a result, I sustained two fractured and compressed vertebrae, a significant hematoma in my right gluteal muscle (requiring two surgical procedures), severe damage to my right hand, and extensive road rash. Two Houston police officers responded to the scene. I explained that I was struck from behind and was positioned in the left lane to access the bike trail. However, the officers informed me that the 19-year-old driver asserted that I had swerved into his path. The officers stated they were uncertain about the incident and would not issue any citations, appearing content to close the case without thorough investigation. A proper investigation would have revealed the driver's untruthfulness. Had I swerved, the impact would have occurred on my left side; instead, I was injured on my right hip, as evidenced by my surgical scars. The officers even visited the hospital to confirm my understanding that no citations would be issued. I believe that had I been traveling in a car or on foot citations would have been issued. It appears that cyclists are not afforded the same level of attention or protection. I was a victim!

He was diligent in getting my belongings back and tracked the customer in the store who walked away with my stuff! PTL!! Two months later, I got a follow up call... a bit long but it could be never... I didn't get everything back, but thankfully it was it was one item! Thank you Detective Hoffman for taking time to follow up! Case closed! Also, I was informed that I could not report by phone the theft. I had to get the officer come to location where incident occurred or go to police station. Please fix your NON- EMERGENCY phone line. I could not get hold of anyone and had to call 911 for this incident. Back the BLUE! :)

After the impact, I was disoriented and trying to process what had just happened. When officers arrived, I did not feel treated with basic compassion or fairness as the other driver. Needless to say, there was two different races. The difference in how I was approached compared to the other driver was clear and difficult to ignore. In a moment where I needed understanding and care, I instead felt judged and dismissed. I was hit from behind and disoriented. No medical care at all, but constant grilling from questions and field sobriety test. I saw the vehicle coming up and it happened so fast, when I was hit I blacked out. I was hit from behind....at a high speed. This experience changed how I view law enforcement. I had always believed in the system and the difficult work officers do, but this situation left me feeling that empathy, integrity, and objective judgment were missing when it mattered most. I am not writing this out of anger, but out of a need to be heard. I am going through serious injuries and will possibly need more treatments. After this incident I am not the same person at all. No one in a vulnerable situation should walk away feeling the way I did and do each day after this incident. I truly hope this leads to reflection, accountability, and better treatment of others in the future.

This place is way the heck out there and is actually a police station! As it was originally built for and still is a police station, things get weird for jurors from here on out... The purpose of this court is to provide jury trials for those who wish to contest minor offenses like very minor assaults (pushing people), traffic moving violations, etc. Therefore, you will only be needed for one business day. SCORE! ARRIVAL TIME: They request that you be promptly there at 9am, but the guy who manages jurors is super friendly and is understanding if you get there at 9 WITHOUT that form filled out. UPON ARRIVAL: You will encounter a security guard and a metal detector. They will have you pass TSA-style sans shoes through that detector and inspect whatever you brought with you. JUROR WAITING ROOM: They have a super tiny room in which they keep about 2 dozen jurors who have also been summoned. There are only two AC units, and so it can get stuffy. There's hardly any room to walk, but you'll survive. They have a TV in the corner of the room that softly plays CNN. REFRESHMENTS / BATHROOM: I'm sure there is a bathroom. I didn't check it out and therefore can't review. Outside of the juror waiting room are two vending machines -- one for sodas and water, one for mainly junk food snacks. Bring some pocket change. THE COURTROOM: We were called into the court room at 11am. (So, note to self, bring something to do or to read.) We were promptly notified by the Honorable Judge that we would not be needed as jurors for the remainder of the day, that she had been able to settle anything without needing jurors. As it is a police station, there is a huge pylon in the middle of the courtroom that may make it hard for you to see the judge... EXIT PROCESS: We then were escorted out of the room. The guy who manages jurors met us. He had us sign something that acknowledged we showed. You can choose to get a $6 check in the mail as compensation or choose to have it donated back to the City of Houston, but not as a tax write-off. This guy will give you a certificate of gratitude for your time and can fill out an excuse for work, if need be. SPECIAL NOTE -- PLEASE READ: This guy said that even if you serve the Municipal Courts, that does not exempt you from serving at the Downtown Court for more complex (read: lengthier) trials in the same calendar year. Be advised!
