One Housekeep visit. Two family rings gone. Zero accountability We hired Housekeep to clean our flat. After the visit, two family heirloom rings of critical sentimental value went missing. We know the rings were stored in a box inside a drawer before the cleaner arrived. After she left, they were gone. She was the only person who came to our home during that period. We have strong reasons to believe she took them. In addition the cleaner was highly unprofessional. She tried to leave 30 minutes before the end of the two-hour session we paid for. We had to insist she finishes the job. When we raised all of this with Housekeep, they did not want to take any responsibility. Huge emotional distress for us. Signed up and bought 3 cleans in advance. First clean was organised so that my house could be clean for my wife and daughter who were arriving back from a funeral. Was told the cleaner would arrive between 9-12am. No sign. Said she was late and would be there at 1pm. Still no sign. Spoke to help desk and they said they'd only refund me £5 and said the cleaner would arrive at 1:30pm. Never turned up and my wife returned and first thing she said was "couldn't you have got the house cleaned?" I waited around for 5hrs. Total waste of time and money, with bad customer service to add to this. We booked a one-off clean and the results were completely unacceptable. The property looked as though it had barely been touched. There was dust and dirt left throughout the house, new hairs around the bath and toilet, and the kitchen cupboards hadn't even been opened. The floors were still filthy -- and, even worse, they managed to scratch and damage our flooring. We had also paid for additional time specifically for the oven and fridge to be cleaned, and for the cleaner to bring their own cleaning equipment - which she did not bring. The cleaner also attempted to leave an hour early without even opening either appliance. The oven was left completely untouched. We raised with Housekeep customer service and the response has been appalling - I'm still waiting for a callback. Overall, an awful experience and a total waste of money. I booked a simple tree trim. Instead, the gardener hacked away at the conifer, leaving it stripped bare in places and permanently ruined. The before/after photos say it all: a full, healthy tree reduced to an eyesore. The gardener claimed the vague instruction "trim tree" justified this outcome. Any competent professional would have paused, asked for clarification, or refused the job rather than destroy the plant. Housekeep's customer service shrugged it off, hiding behind excuses about "communication" and "expectations." No refund, no proper resolution, just empty assurances that they'll "feed back to the team." Do not use. read more

I booked through Housekeep and honestly regret wasting my time and money. For the first clean, the cleaner asked to arrive late due to personal issues - I was understanding and agreed, but explained they needed to finish by 2.45pm as we had arranged to take our dog out. He eventually arrived at 1.15pm, giving him just 1.5 hours of the booked 2 hours. When I came back home during the clean, he was hoovering - but only the lounge looked done. The hallway, bedroom, and bathroom hadn't been touched. Surfaces across the flat were dusty and clearly not cleaned. He claimed to have focused on the kitchen, but given how small our kitchen is, this can't have taken up the whole time. In fact, aside from putting away plates, there was little evidence of meaningful cleaning. When I stepped outside to update my partner (who was waiting in the car with our dog at the cleaner's request), I came back to find he had very quickly hoovered the bedroom in my absence. He then asked to use our toilet - fine - but immediately after asked if he could heat up his hot pocket for lunch. Meanwhile, my partner and dog were still stuck waiting outside. Completely unprofessional and suggested perhaps he'd intended to heat and eat his lunch during our clean if I hadn't come back in time.... Once he finally left, we inspected the flat: Bathroom - untouched. Bedroom - no surfaces or dusting done, just a quick vacuum. Kitchen - reasonably clean, but tiny and nowhere near 1.5 hours' worth of work. Lounge - hoovered, but no surfaces or proper clean. Hallway - not done at all. I raised this with Housekeep and, despite there being no real clean completed, they refused a refund. Instead, they offered the chance for a "redeem clean." Against my better judgement, I accepted. I booked this for a 1-2pm slot so we could coordinate dog care. I asked politely if they could arrive closer to 1.30. Instead, I was told they wouldn't arrive until 3pm. At that point, I'd lost the will. I cancelled everything altogether. Housekeep has been nothing short of a waste of money, time, and energy. Poor communication, zero accountability, and shockingly low standards. Do yourself a favour and book elsewhere. read more

I would not trust the good reviews here to be actually genuine. I booked an end of residency clean recently when I moved to America from London. Because some of the cupboards were left with some stuff in them (food, cleaning products etc) I added another room to inflate the price to reflect this. So the bill came to £390 for a one off clean in a one bedroom flat. Expensive, but needed to be done. In the US, I get an email saying they estimate 20 black bags needed and state an extra £250 charge because of clutter and £10 per black bag. So an extra £450, making the bill £840, which is just ridiculous. I wrote back saying I'd added ann extra room on the booking to cover the clutter. They responded saying that was noted and they'd reduce the bill by £24. What an absurd, made up number. I did a new quote on their website, without adding the extra room and it came up with £58. I responded saying I don't want my extra room cost to be "noted", I want it taken off the bill if they're going to add charges. Then I send a photo of the black bags and there's around 16 black bags, very lightly packed, clearly to inflate the price. On their own website it states that cleaning involves removing black bags. They clearly didn't count on me being friends with everyone on my street and having CCTV footage of everything and photos. So they are making up costs, inflating the price and trying to take advantage of the fact that I've left the country. IMO this is fraud and theft. Stay well clear of this company, they should be absolutely ashamed of themselves. read more

One of the Worst Experiences I've Had With a Company -- Stay Away Housekeep has been nothing short of a nightmare. What started as a simple home cleaning service quickly turned into a drawn-out, stressful situation I'm still dealing with. I asked them several times -- in writing -- to cancel my account, stop contacting me, and most importantly, to stop trying to take payments. Despite this, they've continued attempting to charge my account, including a withdrawal attempt at 11:10pm. That's right -- almost midnight. How is this acceptable? It's not just a technical glitch. It's negligence. It's a company that doesn't care what their customers ask, or what boundaries are set. Their communication is poor, their service was average at best, and their handling of my cancellation has been appalling. If this behaviour continues, I'll be filing a County Court Judgement. Do yourself a favour and look elsewhere. There are other platforms that understand customer service and basic respect. Housekeep clearly does not. read more

I booked a weekly clean with Housekeep. Unfortunately I fell sick on the first clean date. I notified the local cleaner 2 hours before the cleaning time via the chat on their app. Since she was local she didn't leave her home. She said it's ok and feel better soon, which was nice of her. I didn't want the cleaner to fall sick too. Although I needed the clean very urgently but I wasn't selfish. Later, Housekeep sent me an email saying: It's -------- here from Housekeep. Your Housekeeper has let us know that they couldn't access your home today. They tried to contact you directly and waited for help, but they couldn't get in to clean. To cover the cost of your Housekeeper's travel and loss of earnings, you've been charged for the booking. Obviously this is a lie and the chat history can prove it wrong. They are still harassing me to get the money but I have disputed that and it is still with the governmental body to check. I have cancelled all future cleans with them as they have no empathy with their costumers and apparently they don't value them. They use their helpless cleaners to get money for themselves and not for their cleaners. I am happy now with another cleaning company. Never again. They are not to be trusted. The cleaners have done a surface level job that was consistent with a simple clean, not a deep clean that we paid a huge amount of money for. They were incompetent, coming into our home and complain about doing their job around the house, not cleaning areas even though we've pointed them out over and over, simple reachable areas. I did not pay that kind of money to have to 'feel bad' about the cleaners who are supposed to do a deep clean. Perhaps they were not prepared for a deep clean. Awful service. I had 5 cleans and only 2 actually completed the job. 2 didn't turn up at all (no message to say they couldn't make it or anything like that, just didn't turn up). And 1 left before the job was completed because she forgot my instructions. Then when I emailed to cancel my scheduled clean I got a phone call from them where, instead of listening to my feedback and cancelling the scheduled cleans, they kept ignoring my request to cancel and instead offering me discounts etc to keep me. I guess this is because the customer service person is required to read a script where they make various attempts to retain the customer. But that just shows they only care about their retention metrics, not actual customer service. Eventually after making it clear I wasn't going to stay, they did agree to cancel, but this call definitely lowered my opinion of housekeep even further. read more

This was advertised as a professional service cleaning, expected to see a team coming with a special equipment and doing a proper deep clean before I move in. They even charged me additional £30 for the van this team was supposed to come with, additional £50 for steam-cleaning of roman blinds and £40 for professional dry cleaning of sofa. Overall, I paid £400 instead of a standard £200 price for a 1-bedroom apartment, expecting a better service. Instead 1 guy showed up (also 1 hour late) with a set of wipes and started asking where I had the mop and vacuum cleaner. The result of the cleaning was mediocre at best, windows were left with stains all over, sofa was left dusty and I don't think he even touched the blinds. He also left his jacket at my place and he started calling me in the middle of the night trying to reclaim it. Avoid this service! read more

I am currently trying to cancel my plan for having a clean in my house every two weeks - turns out it is absolutely impossible to do so, there is NOTHING on the website that allows you to cancel your cleans smoothly. You can only choose options to have a clean in a new address or cancel your cleans one by one. If you want to fully end your plan, which I am trying to do as I am now out of the country, what you have to do instead is CALL CUSTOMER SERVICE, which of course never is available and never picks up the phone... This company is an absolute SCAM, please avoid using their services. Worst experience of my life. The cleaner left my house unlocked!!! I can't tell you how horrified I was to come back home and see the door open. Mind you - the cleaner left 10 minutes before the clean was over and did not text or call me to say she was leaving. she did not have a key and I specifically said I will be back before the clean is over, as I did with other cleaners from Housekeep in the past without trouble. I got back about 5 minutes before and she was gone!!!! I was so so lucky that nothing happened, but very easily my whole life could have been turned up side down, all my possessions could have been stolen!! and I wouldn't even have an insurance claim because the door was wide open. I am shocked and appalled, and to make it even worse when I called Housekeep to share this incident, they offered 5 pounds credit. 5 pounds!!!!! as a compensation that their employee put me in danger. When I told them this is unacceptable, they offered 30 minutes free for my next clean, as if I will ever use their service again, when they won't even refund me for this terrible incident or acknowledge how insane this is. Be VERY wary of the many 5-star reviews for Housekeep on here, Yell Google. They are all without commentary and suspiciously all posted very recently showing this company is clearly paying people to post positive reviews and in most cases it's their employees posting about how great it is to work there - not surprising considering they don't actually have to do any work. If you read the otherwise mostly 1-star reviews you will find this company should be avoided : unable to provide regular cleaners, the scheduled cleaners never turning up or cancel at last minute, apalling cleaning standards (either not cleaning at all or actually breaking and damaging goods), non-existent customer service. We booked housekeep for an "end of tenancy" clean for an 8am to 9am start. At 8.55am they called to say they were running late and would be a couple of hours delayed (alarm bells already ringing). The two cleaners turned up at 11am and walked them around the house pointing out what to do and what not to do - the instructions were quite clear. At 1:30pm they called me to say they were finished (alarm bells ringing again). When i went to the flat I was astonished at the appalling job they had done - the work was disgraceful. the clean cost me £300 - so that works out at about £60/hour per cleaner for a a totally crap job. I complained and asked for another cleaning team to come and do the job as I didnt want the same crap cleaners back. This request was denied so I got another cleaner to do it properly. I asked Housekeep if they thought the service they provided was value for money. My customer service rep told me he thought it was. We used Housekeep once after a recommendation. Our experience was terrible. Our cleaner somehow managed to cause about £100 of damage in her first clean. She knocked off an electrical appliance causing it to smash and create a lot of mess (she didnt even pick it up but left it on the floor). This electrical appliance had an alcohol cleaning solution inside of it which stripped the varnish off of the wooden surface it was on as it wasn't cleaned up. She dropped one of the shower heads on the floor which dented it and made a dent in the floor and also put a large dent in one of our towel rails. We also discovered last night that the cooker buttons were cleaned with something abrasive and almost all of the temperature markings have been rubbed off so we have no idea what temperature our oven is now. Apart from the damage, cleaning was mediocre with lots of things not touched and she left the terrace door open which allowed water in and is not secure. We are currently trying to be be compensated for some of the damage. Customer service is friendly but slow and it feels as though they don't 100% believe us which is frustrating. read more

Absolutely fuming! Booked a slot for between 12-1 for 2.5 hours. Cleaner arrived approx 10:30, messaging me asking where I was as she was outside. I explained I was at work. I left and rushed back only to find she was not at my property but somewhere else. She then messaged she couldnt find my property and I had to look for her on my estate. By now Im pretty angry because this is taking me away from work and defeats the purpose of getting a cleaner. She then comes in and says she has to leave early to pick her child up. She is here less than an hour. Asks me how to use the hoover and thats it. Its gets better...... after she leaves, i inspect the property. The bathroom is soaked, my clean, spotless shower door is covered (both sides) in water. The sink and the mirror covered in water. The bin not empty. The hooverig was shocking. No dusting whatsoever, nothing moved on any shelves in the bathroom or any other room. The wardrobe mirrors were not touched. All in all, I have no idea what she did for 50 mins. I am actually going to check my personal belongings because I cannot believe for a moment this person was a cleaner. The bin and toilet brush in the bathroom had not been moved. Crumbs on the kitchen side still there, sink not touched, base of stool not cleaned. So I spent the next couple of hours cleaning my house which was in a worse state then when she arrived. You would think this was bad enough but it gets worse... Housekeep charged me the full 2.5 hours, despite all this and even with the evidence of all the messages and photos as requested provided. I am now chasing for a refund and being ignored so I have to log a dispute with my bank as I have paid for a service which I have not recieved. I do not know how this company is surviving. A two year old could clean better. Also I have no idea how they have gotton the money from my bank because the card that they have said will be charged was cancelled when lost over a month ago. read more
