Hotspot Internet Café is a small internet shop on City Road that seems to have given much of the limited space available to telephone booths where international calls can be made. It's funny to see this kind of setup in the UK, as I'm more accustomed to seeing it in India and West Africa, where I am always tremendously grateful for the services they offer. But, with communication being pretty cutting edge in the UK, I do wonder at the need for services of this type. However, there are a lot of foreign students living in the immediate area, and calling long distance on a mobile is probably prohibitively expensive for them. Hotspot Internet Café also sell international phone cards that can be used in conjunction with the landlines installed, or elsewhere if desired. I used to have one about ten years ago, and it was really useful and economical. My job took me all around the UK, and the card meant that I could use hotel landlines at a fraction of the cost that I'd be charged if the usual hotel rates were applied.
When I was in India last year the telephone and internet shop that I used most regularly had a dedicated phone using Skype. This was even more economical than the cards, and I wonder why Hotspot Internet Café don't offer this service as well, as they clearly have the setup to do it.
In addition to telephone and internet services, Hotspot Internet Café also offer a limited suite of ancillary services that include, copying and faxing. They also offer PC and laptop network maintenance and setup. read more
