Great spa and service - but bad/boring cooking Everything is…read moregreat, except for the food, it's just not that good really. Then paired with the pricing it makes up for a bad deal food wise. I mean who the hell paires chickpeas with battered mushrooms, it's like eating cement with bricks. And the caprese is frankly way way way better in the pizzeria on the Oslo boat from Copenhagen utterly disappointin, the veal was okay but a bit tough, good sauce thou. Then we had the desserts and the strawberry meringue had become infused with the plate, it was home made but had never been crisp on the outside so it was impossible to eat with out some serious power tools. But all in all we really enjoyed our stay at ystad saltsjöbad just a bit disappointed in the food vs pricing.

We were looking for a place to stay for one night in Ystad and we weren't willing to shell out too…read moremuch cash. Prins Carl seemed to be inexpensive with a decent amount of comfort and services. To get it out of the way, I would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone passing through Ystad. It's located directly on the main street of Ystad, it's fairly inexpensive, and it had a very nice breakfast buffet included in the room fee. That being said, a few basic things that you expect from a hotel like a bit of toothpaste, shampoo, and the likes were nowhere to be found. Also since it was located directly downtown, the night club (one and only in town perhaps?) was making quite a lot of noise when you're trying to go to sleep - a necessary evil, I guess? The contact with the staff was quite nonexistent. I received a text with the code for the front door and which room we were staying at - and then we were left to find it ourselves. This was fine, yet not extremely service minded. My girlfriend did, however, write an extra request while we booked the room: to have a picture of the local tv-show character, detective Kurt Wallander, in our room... And they delivered. There was indeed a picture of Wallander in our room. If it had not been for this request, which prompted (possibly) the owner of the hotel to come knock on our door and have a little laugh about it, we would probably not have seen any staff at all. However, there was a trolly with coffee, tea, and cookies in the hallway for all the guests, which was nice. So all in all, nothing extraordinary, but completely decent and recommendable!
