Nice hotel, great breakfast included and the surrounding area is gorgeous. The bus stops across the street and it's a 20 minute drive to Salzburg for about 3.50 euros. read more

We loved staying at this hotel and wished we could have stayed longer than two nights. When we…read morearrived at our room there were robes (to include a cute robe for a child) along with slippers to wear to their spa services and/or pool/hot tub. I thought it was a nice touch. We also had free sparkling water. We had a king bed and sofa sleeper. While the bed was comfortable, the sofa sleeper was not. If you have a third person see if there are any other options available. This was the only downside to our stay. The bathroom was separated into two areas- a room with the toilet and the other with the shower/tub. We had a small balcony with views of the Bavarian Alps. It was at the front of the hotel. Now onto what we loved the most: There was an indoor pool on the top floor. It wasn't warm but it wasn't cold. We had it completely to ourselves on both days. It also has great views. Note: On one end of the pool is a button where you can turn on the jets for a lap pool option. Our favorite though was the huge outdoor rooftop hot tub. This is where you really want to go. One evening there was 7 of us in there with plenty of space left. The views of the mountains from this hot tub were probably some of the best views I've ever had. We had the hot tub to ourselves one evening. I question if half the guests knew about the pool and hot tub as apparently the hotel was fully booked but it was a ghost town up there. I will say it is tricky to find. The elevator does not take you directly to it, rather you have to take the stairs and enter through the spa services area. Within walking distance are several restaurants, a convenience store and grocery store. Make note that everything in this area pretty much shuts down at 6 p.m. The only thing that is open past that time is an ice cream shop. I would absolutely return to this hotel in the future. I would try for a week's stay if possible as there is so much to do in the area.

We chose this hotel specifically because of Flying the Nest's YouTube review! It was an absolutely wonderful experience. We speak very little German so we appreciated how well the employees spoke English. Our suite had a very private balcony with a stunning view. The luxury robes and spa bag were appreciated. Ordering room service was a smooth process every time. The nightstand had a small wooden mountain to place on your bed if you wanted housekeeping to change the linens - that was a nice touch. The small things never go unnoticed. The breakfast buffet and the Johann Grill were absolutely phenomenal. I cannot say enough about the restaurant staff. They are simply the best - especially the breakfast hostess, Rada. She went above and beyond to remember our names and make us feel at home each and every day. The lobby and valet employees were very kind. They even scheduled our taxi back to Munich for us. We also really enjoyed the lobby bar. We highly recommend the strawberry cheesecake cocktail and the golden rush! They also have food options available. One evening we enjoyed a nice quiet dinner in their outdoor courtyard on one of the swinging benches facing the mountains! The hotel includes a city transportation pass for your stay. But the walk to the bus stop wasn't as easy as we hoped. However, it was understandable since we were staying at the top of the mountain. The bus schedule was sometimes inconvenient. The last bus seemed to run around 6pm every night so we were unable to enjoy dinners in the city like we hoped. However, the hotel restaurants were so wonderful that we were glad to come back for dinner each night! I just wish the hotel had a shuttle that at least went to the Hauptbahnhof and back. Overall, we had a wonderful five star experience! We will definitely be staying at more Kempinski hotels in the future!

It was clean, spacious, & comfortable. We loved our little balcony. The staff was super friendly and helpful. There were many breakfast options including savory and sweet items, a fabulous coffee machine, & a large bright breakfast room to enjoy it all in. I loved the fact they did a whole basket of laundry for €10.00! After two weeks of traveling and one trip to a laundromat in Munich, this was a huge treat! The only con we had was parking was somewhat of an issue and the WiFi was sketchy at times. However, neither issue would keep us from staying here again!

The staff recommended we try their spa at the hotel. We had the entire spa to ourselves, which included a hot tub, steam room and dry sauna, all no extra cost! The breakfast is top-notch, including pretty much anything you can think of to eat: eggs, meats, breads etc.and was included. The staff couldn't have been better. This place is a must!!!

And the times when it was truly called the Ruski Hotel are now over as well - as the Ruble is not doing too well. Rooms fairly ok, need some rework but the bathrooms are in dire need of upgrading/ or they should rebrand as a vintage funky 70s place. Two years ago a Steigenberger, the gps (three years old) finds it as a Radisson blue, it's now a Wyndham. Speaking of getting there - don't let yourself be fooled by the fact that you are routed through a pedestrian area. It is right in the heart of the Fussganger Zone of Bad Reichenhall. You, literally, walk out front and hang a left and you are walking along the walking area of shopping and right around the corner of a beautiful park. No complaints about the staff, that were very friendly and accommodating. Parking isn't free, but conveniently around the corner. I think we paid about 7 Euros per day. Our room was absolutely HUGE, by American standards. The bathroom even has a bidet, with towel warmers and a double sink. It's quite dated, however. We ate at the Axel Stube, that was once a thriving restaurant where the locals hung out. It's not that way any longer, I am afraid. The bar was even sadder. We sat there, for an after dinner drink and there were only two other customers. My cousin, who still lives here, says that the locals just don't come here any longer. As for the breakfast buffet, they do a lovely job. I still love the old world charm of the breakfast area, with the large windows and view of the garden. I don't know how this place can liven up again, because I hate to see this place close down and be boarded up. She's still a grand lady, and I would stay here again.
