The breakfast buffet was better than average (thank you waffle machine). We had dinner there one night and it too was excellent. The room was way above average. Great shower, really comfortable bed and plenty of room. But the best part of our stay were the hotel employees. Everyone of them was friendly and professional. That said, a special call out to the guest experience manage, Jedrzej. We had a number of requests and he handled everyone one of them. A nicer manager you will never find. Overall, a wonderful stay!!!

We arrived a day early from our group so we had to make our way to the hotel from the airport on our own. We researched ahead of time and saw that there was a train that went to the stop right near the hotel. It was very easy and cheap (20 PLN or $6USD). The train was fast, smooth, and quiet. We had only a short walk across the street to the hotel. Upon arrival, the lady at the front desk was very welcoming. They already had our key card ready so it took no time to check in. They also offered some chocolate and a Krakow Obwarzanek (like a bagel but a bit harder). We stayed in room 327 which overlooks the entrance to the Galleria mall across the street. Oddly, you cannot hear street noise aside from the occasional tram but it's really very quiet. My only issue with the room is that the one wall that connects the bathroom and bedroom is frosted glass. So when one person is using the bathroom, the light shines into the bedroom and disturbs the other person if they are sleeping. The hotel is within a short walking distance to the Old Town, where pretty much everything you want to see/visit is located. Breakfast was included in our room rate and they serve a huge buffet of hot and cold items including a juicer and raw fruit to create your own masterpiece. I can't recommend this hotel enough - the rooms are clean with plenty of storage, the location is perfect, and the staff have been so pleasant and accommodating.

We re on the fifth floor and are one of two rooms. Suites really. Comfy bed , great shower. Full kitchenette, welcome water in the refer, and we can have our clothes washed and returned. We booked the salt mine tour and Auschwitz thru the hotel. Simple. No waiting for confirmation that may or may not come thru. Instant approval, meeting point 50 meters away. Very nice host. We knew we had made a great choice as soon as we arrived; the staff at the small front desk were warm, courteous and helpful. Located on the main square, the hotel sits on the pedestrian mall. Cars are only allowed before 10am, so if you arrive later it'll be a short walk (3 min) to the hotel itself. The entrance is placed between two restaurants, and is easy to miss, so pay close attention to the signage and look up; the sign is above a courtyard entrance. Don't be afraid to ask waiters or other people working in the area for directions, which is what we did. While this is an old building it does have a small elevator which was a pleasant surprise as we had quite a bit of luggage and there are a lot of stairs to get to the rooms. The rooms themselves are "all mod cons". Well appointed, air conditioned, with small kitchenette (plates, glasses, small stove and small fridge). The beds are firm but surprisingly comfortable, which seems a standard feature of Polish hotels. Another quirk in Poland are the duvets - it would appear that queen/king size duvets are hard to come by in this country, so we were given two single duvets for our queen bed (which happened even at the Intercontinental in Warsaw). They are however lovely, fluffy, warm and cozy. The hotel also has a washing machine and dryer available and they will provide you with detergent if you need to do laundry - which is super nice if you've packed light for a long trip. The staff, as we mentioned, were fabulous. Although one of us speaks Polish there would have been no issue if we were both unilingual Anglophones. All the staff spoke fluent English. More importantly they are eager to help with any requests you might have. In our case recommendations on restaurants, directions and help with tours to the Salt Mines and Auschwitz. While we never did this we also found out that some guests would give them a grocery list and cash, and they would go get the requested items for you - outstanding. They were also quite fun to chat up, and we grew quite fond of our hosts. The hotel is located on Krakow's main square, which is surrounded by a beautiful green belt which made for lovely strolls. You'll find lots of restaurant options in the square, as well as some shopping, and marvellous ice cream everywhere you turn. Our favourite food kiosk was just off the square, very near the hotel, serving marvellous potato pancakes with great sauces. We've forgotten the name, but it's easy to find. Take a left from the hotel entrance, walk about 25 meters, and look for the people devouring these yummy pancakes on the small, stand-up tables out front. Perhaps best of all for us is that the Venetian is located near the Jewish Quarter. A 15 minute walk took us to some great restaurants (more funky than what you find in the main square), the popular Zapiekanka stands in the Kazimierz and some great bars. If you're look of for a really funky place to hear great live music while enjoying ridiculously cheap drinks look for Alchemie; for us it was like being in any one of a number of our favourite New Orleans bars/music venues. A great vibe! Another convenient aspect to the location was the short walk to Galleria Krakowski, a popular and fashionable mall. The walk to the mall takes you to a pedestrian underpass with a wonderful fruit stand which became absolutely addictive with their perfect and super-flavourful strawberries and peaches. The mall also has a PLAY store for those of you with an unlocked phone, where you can buy a SIM chip and pay-as-you-go airtime (buy the airtime with your credit card and not at stores... (Long story). Overall the Venetian is a great hotel that we highly recommend.

When staying in Krakow, this hotel has it all. Great location, superb service, spacious rooms,…read morerooftop bar, club lounge, and a large breakfast menu (with a large bar as well). Being steps away from the Wawel Royal Castle, views of the castle from the rooftop bar is a big plus. Speaking of views, my hotel room view of the Vistula River was amazing. A box of Polish chocolates was a nice touch and I opted to choose the bottle of vodka as the welcome gift which I realized was overkill. I had access to the club lounge and the bar there is nicely stocked. The dinner menu at this lounge is also, so delicious. There are a variety of sandwiches, cured meats, cheeses, soups, main dishes and desserts that rivals restaurants around the area. Back on the location, if the Vistula River and Castle views aren't enough, the 5 - 10 minute walk to Old Town Krakow and maybe 15-20 min walk to the Jewish Quarter is so convenient.

The Sheraton Grand deserves more than 5 stars. It's not just about the fabulous location with views…read moreof Wawel Castle and the Vistula River. It's the fabulous service, breakfast, and club access that makes it the best option in Kraków. We stayed in a corner deluxe suite right across from the Sheraton Club on the first floor. It was so convenient for us. We're early risers, and it's so nice to be able to just walk across the hall for coffee, tea, juice, and fruit. We also visited that lounge in the evening on a daily basis. The hot snacks served there are more like a meal. We had some delicious polish soups, pork meatballs, grilled chicken, and pasta dishes. The apple pie there is absolutely delicious. There were different desserts each day, and the staff were great in keeping the serving area clean and with their knowledge of wines. It was a great way to end the day. The breakfast bar and kitchen service were great. They cook your eggs to order and make omelets. There was always some kind of Mediterranean or Asian side dish available as well as traditional Polish sausage, breads, and pastries. The crisp vegetable samosas or crispy wonton bites were my favorite sides along with the grilled mushrooms and crispy hash browns. The buffet had just about everything. The fruit was fresh. More so than any buffet I've ever been to. I wish I had taken a picture of the watermelon. Our room was the perfect size for the two of us. It was very comfortable and clean. I was very happy with the water pressure in the shower, as well as the storage space. The air conditioning also worked well. No issues with accommodations whatsoever. The service was fantastic! My husband remembered how well they treated him when visiting back in 2002. That's why he recommended we stay here. He was so right. I wish I could name everyone on the staff. The ones we remember the most are Alicia and Peter. They were always so helpful and nice, but everyone was great. We wouldn't hesitate in booking this hotel again if we ever make it back to Kraków. It was such a great experience from beginning to end.
