A modern business hotel in Munich, located 500m south of the main station…read more It's a mid-range chain hotel, providing modern rooms with air-conditioning, TV, safes, and a hair-dryer but not tea or coffee facilities. The shower rooms are small but perfectly adequate. Small bottles of complimentary water are provided on arrival. There's free WiFi. Beds were comfortable and the rooms were very well sound-proofed. Everything was spotlessly clean. Breakfast is a buffet served in the basement cafe: although the self-service area is a little cramped, the selection was pretty good and everything looked very fresh. Staff were lovely and very helpful, which made our visit more memorable. The only downside is that, being so close to the station, as is common in Germany, the area feels a bit down at heel, and has its share of strip joints, so doesn't feel terribly salubrious. It didn't bother us particularly as there were always a lot of people about, but I can see that wouldn't work for everybody.

It's across from Cartier and there is a Van Cleef across the street. There is some seriously high-end shopping available on the Maximilianstraße where this hotel is located. As always, the doormen and valets were awesome and the gal who checked us in was a sweetheart. That is where the good stops. The room had an odd layout and not all the light switches worked. There were no luggage racks for our suitcases and we had to ask several times. There were no sheets on the bed, only one cover and the beds were REALLY hard and uncomfortable. The turndown service consisted of water by the bedside but they didn't give us any so we had to call down and ask for it. They also didn't put a Do Not Disturb sign in our door so we were woken by staff early in the AM our first day in Munich. Not good. The in-room entertainment didn't work, the tv remote barely worked and the english option didn't work at all so it was useless. It also seemed really outdated. We had dinner in the bar/restaurant downstairs which is not cheap and the waitress was a smartass with me when I asked a question about one of the appetizers and wanted her to explain to me exactly what was in it. She acted like I was an idiot and I had to correct her. She apologized and was very polite afterwards but it really irritates me when staff at a fancy hotel act snobbish. The included breakfast was decent - with a lot of options - so I was happy with that and the concierge desk was very friendly and helpful as well. It wasn't terribly priced and was very close to the Wiesen. And as we didn't have table reservations, we wanted something close to the grounds so we could show up early. The design is very cool. Modern with a cool Bavarian charm. The staff was great and spoke very good English which helps as my German was elementary at best. The rooms are clean big enough, and have a little balcony with ample fresh air. The other amenities are good as well. The bar was small and intimate but what makes this place is the amazing German breakfast. It's everything you expect from a German breakfast and more. Grab your food and sit on the patio area to take in the morning air. Overall I was so impressed I would absolutely book again for my next Oktoberfest.

Located about 400m from nearest ubahn station. Not a bad walk down and then you're only a couple of stops from the centre of the city. Rooms are clean, the bed was comfy and there's a great shower! Breakfast was included in the room rate and is served from 7am - 10am. Great selection of continental breakfast items. Although I stuck to granola with yogurt or bread rolls with nutella - yum! Also serving good beer / cocktails in the bar which is always a nice way to finish off a busy touristy day!

It felt like being a mountain cottage. The living room and the sitting area is on one floor, and the stairs takes you to the bedroom the floor above. I got a nice king size bed in a very spacious room. There was a nice roof window where you get a great outside view from the bedroom. Bathrooms on both floors so you don't have to take the stairs in case of emergency. The room was very clean and properly maintained. Everything in the room was working, and they clean the room and make your bed everyday. Overall, it was a very nice room to say in. I am pretty sure we paid extra because we stayed during Oktoberfest, but I think the price was worth it, especially for business travelers. They also offer free breakfast, and its not just bagels and danishes with coffees. I stayed in other Holidays Inns in US before and none of them looked and felt as nice as this one. Would love to come back to Munich and stay here again!

Finding a place for less than $100 a night in Munich can be a bit painful. We were recommended the Hotel Monaco by a friend of mine from college who had stayed here last summer while travelling across Europe. I'm so glad she saved me from the $160/night LeMeridien I was contemplating (which would have been nice, but the $180 I saved was better). Upon arrival around noon, we were shown to Room 407, a double room with shared bathroom. It was as expected - this is the kind of place where you need to be able to discern between old dirt and just old. Some broken tiles, some chipped paint, worn fixtures...there's a reason why it's inexpensive! The room was clean, and that was what was important to me. The only thing that I disliked about the room was that the two beds were separated into different bed frames, so it wasn't an option to really sleep with my husband. Oh well. The shared bathroom was fine. Again, old but not dirty. We had breakfast one of our two mornings. It is a very nice spread - if you eat your fill, you could skip lunch. I'm not a huge breakfast person, so I'd rather keep my 8 euros and spend 2 or less on a breakfast pastry. Christine checked us out at 6:30 am when we were headed to the Welt for our pickup; aside from a misunderstanding on my side (the TripAdvisor coupon is only for 1 breakfast, not for both parties), easy peasy. When we returned a week later, we were shown to a double room with ensuite bath (when we went to make our reservation, the shared bath option was full booked). Our room was more comfortable (mattresses were not separated by a frame, much larger room) but the location wasn't as ideal. It was right on the main street and between the lobby & the breakfast room, so there was a lot of street noise & breakfast noise. Luckily we are early risers, so the breakfast noise wasn't too painful. Check-out was easy. We left our bags and went to explore Munich for a few more hours before we came back to fetch our bags and head to the airport. This was a great value that helped us stay on budget for our 9 day trip. Is it luxurious? Absolutely not. Did I stay in nicer hotels in Germany elsewhere for the same budget? Yes. But it's a reasonably priced option for Munich, which isn't inexpensive, and the staff members are quite lovely and speak fluent enough English (a plus since my husband does not speak German, and it saved me from making trips to the desk with him to translate). The free wifi made it easy for us to keep up with the world. Also, having an underground entrance 1.5 blocks from the hotel made life easy. If in Munich again and on a tight budget, we would definitely consider staying here again.

The proximity to the city center is okay, but you're right next to the train station and the neighborhood is dirty and sketchy. Lots of sex workers, big groups of kinda drunk men, but also students, backpackers, etc. I didn't feel comfortable If you're on a strictly budget-based trip, do a different hostel. If you're on a getaway, spend a little more or go a little further out.
