Rooms were ridiculously small even for a dutch hotel. We left immediately and went elsewhere.

Beautiful hotel, perfect location, and a few restaurant hiccups! It's more 4 1/2 stars if I could…read moregive another half I would. Loved this hotel in Den Haag! It's in a fantastic location -- right next to a gorgeous park and literally steps away from the Escher Museum. It's also just a short walk to the Mauritshuis (hello, Girl with a Pearl Earring ) and surrounded by lots of things to do, see, and eat. The hotel itself is beautiful -- elegant lobby, rich-looking dining hall, and we stayed in a junior suite that was spacious, comfortable, and full of thoughtful touches like tons of drawers and cabinet space. Service across the board was excellent -- from the concierge to the doorman to housekeeping, everyone was friendly and professional. Now, about the restaurant... that's where things got a little bumpy. There was one incident early on that I reported to the front desk, and to their credit, they were super apologetic -- even saying, "this isn't the first time this happened and we'll talk to the manager." (Okay... not sure if that was meant to make me feel better, but I appreciated the honesty?) Anyway, after that, they went above and beyond -- our breakfast table was magically reserved for us every morning, and the person who had slipped up before turned into the nicest person ever. I booked four nights through my Amex Platinum and got all the perks that come with it -- totally worth it. The stay overall was wonderful, but again, the restaurant really needs some tightening up. One dinner night, we waited over an hour for our food which's slow even by European standards, and they forgot our fries. When they realized it, they offered to bring us two orders to make up for it -- sweet gesture, but we declined because... well, we love fries, just not that much . They brought out mayo, ketchup, and truffle mayo (yum!) -- but then it got a bit awkward because I overheard an American gentleman behind me earlier asking for ketchup, and the waitress told him they didn't have any. My husband whispered, "He's looking at your ketchup." I wanted to offer him some, but by the time my fries arrived, his were long gone. Oops. Food-wise, everything else was really good -- especially the sea bass, perfectly cooked with crispy skin just the way it should be. All in all, despite a few restaurant quirks, I'd definitely stay here again next time I'm in The Hague. The service, comfort, and location more than make up for it -- just maybe skip dinner downstairs and explore the city's food scene instead!

Try not to get an end unit, the noise of the stairway door slamming is audible even if you jam a towel under the door. Their king beds are just two twin beds shoved together, if you're wondering why the sheets fit so loosely. Housekeeping was thoughtful enough to get us a second pair of slippers, and restocked a toiletry they missed the first time around, but left the window open after a cleaning. One front desk agent went above and beyond in troubleshooting why our room's outlets weren't working, and ended up bringing up an extension cord and separate converter to make up for the in-desk faulty outlet. Another agent wasn't able to answer my question about local public transportation, and made no additional effort to find out of the answer or pass along the question to the other person working. Training seems... varied. Our real frustration was the check-in process-- their time estimates for when the room would be ready was off by several hours (and kept changing in-between), which is a huge setback when you're jetlagged and part of a group booking. I think next time we'll opt for an Airbnb for a third of the nightly cost.

Tv had many international channels. Bathroom was convenient, but my shower changed from warm to cold and back to warm water continuously. I signalled this to reception to have it fixed, but unfortunately nothing was done. Breakfast buffet was excellent! I'm a big fan of fresh fruit and was happy to find fresh pineapple, watermelon, melon, mixed fruit salad... Besides a choice of bread rolls, eggs, bacon, sausages, fresh vegetables, Dutch bread sprinkles, etc the hotel also served "poffertjes" - a type of small pancakes you eat with butter and sugar. Wonderful! I had a pedicure at the Spa downstairs and was happy with the service. In general the staff was friendly and helpful.

The location is very close to the beach and Den Haag is easy to reach by public transport. The breakfast offer was not huge, but big enough to satisfy every guest. If you aren´t here in the main saison, you can easy park your car for free in 1-3 Minutes walking distance. I would highly recommend the seaview appartement. But don´t expect too much luxury in the so called luxury room. It´s not more than a good average and for the room itself a bit to pricey.

Positives: * Attractive, renovated rooms with modern baths and excellent water pressure. (The website refers to Art Deco interior, but there's really no evidence of that style anywhere.) * Some rooms have small balconies that overlook the gardens behind. Request these, as we did, although you may have to pay slightly more. Great for lounging at the end of the day. There's also a common garden in the back that looks inviting; * Efficient staff; * Quiet and clean inside and out; * In-room safes accommodate laptops (mine, anyway). Negatives: * The free wifi was so slow as to be useless. We tried all possible devices at different times of day. Almost nada. Very frustrating. * The buffet breakfast is varied and attractively laid out, but it's really pretty mediocre. Ours was included in the room rate. Under no circumstances should you pay for this. You're better off at one of the cute places down the street. * A front-desk staffer tried to convince my husband that the Gemeentemuseum no longer hosted highlights from the Mauritshuis (which is being renovated). He pressed her to ask a supervisor, at which point she discovered that he was right. Her directions to the tram were accurate, anyway. Really more like 3.5 stars, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and round up.

If you like New York, stay in Amsterdam, if you like a beautiful, relaxing small town, stay in Delft. Just around the corner from the hotel, is a grocery store, restaurants and the main square. Also a short walk to the train station. Our room was 29, which has 2 windows on the front of the hotel, with a bedroom with a tv, a nice bathroom with a walk-in shower, and another room with a small fridge, a desk, and a single bed. No A/C, but there were 2 small "tower" fans. There is an elevator. Breakfast was the same every morning. Standard European breakfast included boiled eggs, meats, cheeses, croissants, rolls, 3 different cereals, small stroop waffles, fruit cups, toast, coffee, orange juice, milk, etc.....A couple of evening they had some hors d'oeuvres at the check-in desk. After 10pm, you have to use a special code to get in the front entrance. (They give you a card with the code) Very nice stay in a wonderful town. Check out the Thursday market in the square (and flower market on Brabantse Turfmarkt), and the Saturday market which is also on Brabantse Turfmarkt, and has antiques on Hippolytusbuurt and Voldersgracht.

The staff was friendly, helpful and most importantly, bilingual! The room was clean, though sparsely decorated and the bed was comfortable. As a 3-star hotel, some of the typical "free" toiletries you receive in the U.S. were not there and interestingly enough, in Europe, 3-star hotels don't provide wash cloths, only hand towels and bath sheets. As is also typical in northern Europe, there is no air conditioning. There was a fan, however, and it was all we needed so it was fine. The cost of the room included breakfast, which was comprised of various breads, cheeses, charcuterie, fruit, yogurt, warm crepes and the famous Dutch stroopwaffles. We would visit Delft again and we would stay at this hotel again.
