A friend and I just returned from a 2-week vacation in Spain. Last on our list of destinations was…read moreSantanyi. Santanyi is a picturesque village, to the south of the island, with great rustic charm accompanied by sun and sea. What made our trip even better was staying at S'Hotelet de Santanyi. S'Hotelet de Santanyi is an upscale, small hotel (5 suites) perfectly located around a corner from the main square. The hotel overall is stylish and classy. The rooms are gracefully decorated in a lovely Mediterranean style. Everything was exceptionally clean with BVLGARI toiletries in the bathroom for added luxury! We stayed in the Lavanda room on the third floor, which shares a sitting area and a roof top deck with one other room. Lucky for us, nobody was booked in the other room so we had the entire floor to ourselves. The town's slow-pace was perfect to come back to from a day at the beach - sun bathing, swimming and drinking chilled glasses of rosé. It was easy to get to the beaches. There are signs everywhere and the drive was only about 15 minutes. The manager, Javier, was very helpful in guiding us to the local beaches and recommending restaurants for food and drinks. Bueno, Javier! The breakfast was the highlight of our mornings. No matter how tired we felt, we would pull ourselves out of bed each morning at 10:00am, which was the time we chose when asked when we would like to have breakfast each morning. Only half-awake, we would float down the stairs guided only by our visions of cafés con leche, fresh fruit, delicious breads, marmalade, meats and pastries. Our server always greeted us with her beautiful smile and a "Buenos Dias". The entire breakfast experience was heaven. It feels as though we were there yesterday. (Jack Johnson is probably still playing in the background ) Santanyi and S'hotelet de Santanyi was definitely the highlight of our trip to Spain, "A place like no other". I look forward to returning someday!

A stunningly beautiful resort on the east coast of Mallorca. Immaculate well spread out grounds…read morewith a wide selection of high-end amenities (3 swimming pools, a private beach overlooking an inlet of the Mediterranean Sea, several tennis courts, and plenty of areas to just lounge and relax. The complex is massive...though you can walk between buildings (there are a dozen or so), it's much easier to travel by the resort's gold carts. Rooms are spacious and spotlessly clean, mine had a large balcony overlooking the grounds. There is high-speed Internet in the room though I would have preferred it to be wireless (they do lend you a cable); there is free wifi in the lobby. My only other issue was that iron and ironing boards don't come standard, you have to request to borrow one. The resort is rated 5 stars but this is largely due to the endless amenities and features than to the quality (which is more 3 or 4 star worthy). Location is picturesque but quite far from Palma and the airport---expect a 1 hour + taxi ride and a 60 euro fare. Nearby Porto Petro village has a few restaurants and bars but is quite small. If you come to the Blau expect to spend most of your time at the resort which is not necessarily a bad thing.

I prefer to be served but the lines for food is so long and such an international clientele that it is probably the best way for them to go. We walked to town and it was not peak season so not crowded. The harbour town gives you some Spanish flavour but you need a car to explore the island --- or just stay and relax in the resort. It feels like a cruise ship experience. Many pools. One pool is warm Much walking. It is €89 to Palma or 1 1/2 hr bus ride. Things to see there. Only relax or walk at resort. There are yoga classes in a schedule. There are bikes or kayaks that are part of the fee to use. But no laundromats to be had. The resort charges a fortune to wash your clothes, so just hand wash and dry in the clothesline in the bath. The spa is part of your fee too and it is really nice. We did drive to Santanyi for market day on Weds. 8-1pm and it was a treat. But at the resort, just relax. If you want to be a tourist, stay in Palma or up North. Too bad the wifi is so sketchy. Seems no one here bothers with yelp so many things are not listed nor reviewed here. People want to keep it their little secret? It is mostly Germans here and their kids. I am sure the peak season is a madhouse. But we were a conference so it was ok for us. The yoga was done in 4 languages....pretty amazing teacher. There is an app you can download to get the most current events, the sheets at the reception are generally off a day or two. I walked out to the lighthouse and that is worth doing for the views. Breakfast buffet is included in your room-- although no one told us, and they will make eggs to order and everything you can imagine is there to eat. So you have to be bold and explore a bit. At least they have an adult pool when the kids screams drive you wild. The beds around the pool are dreamy.
