My husband and I came here for a wedding in October. The wedding was held here so we decided to stay here to make everything much simpler, and we are glad we did. The only issue that we ran into was that there wasn't a late night option for food whenever we arrived on Thursday night. However, we were able to ask the front desk and they gave us directions to a pizza shop up the street that we were able to walk to, so crisis averted. Furthermore, the front desk was very helpful. They were friendly and provided us with the information we needed - included the ferry departure schedule, which allowed us to reach the ferry right in the nick of time! The room itself was wonderful and spacious! We didn't realize that it had a pull out bed in addition to the bed in the bedroom. Important things for me are having hot water with strong pressure, which this place had. The extras that I like are having robes and slippers, which this place also had. We didn't purchase the option for breakfast because we knew we would be getting in very late. But you were able to purchase it whichever day you'd like. We had breakfast at the hotel on the last day. The selection was very wide for food. My husband and I have the complete opposite tastes in what we like to eat and we were both satisfied with the options. The wedding was beautiful! They had the ceremony on the rooftop by the beach club. The ceremony was at 2 pm and it was very warm. The rooftop had minimal shade so it was quite warm and a little uncomfortable in the direct sunlight. Luckily the ceremony wasn't too long and they had water available. The views of the sea behind the couple and the wedding party were gorgeous though. The reception was held in a courtyard style room on the floor before. It was naturally beautiful with pink flowers (that I call veraneras) adorning the walls in addition to the flower decor from the actual wedding. The entrance to the room led you out to the seawall overlooking the sea. That room was a spectacular venue as it was open aired (with fresh sea wind) but also mostly covered so we had a break from the sun. We were able to eat, dance and be merry the whole night! This hotel itself is a short 5-minute drive (or a longer walk) to downtown Rota. My husband and I were happy to have rented a car. We flew into Sevilla and drove to Rota (2.5 hours because we stopped at other towns along the way) and it was helpful to get us to the nightlife in Rota but also to the ferry quickly. If you're looking for a wonderful and comfortable spot in Rota to hang your hat, I highly recommend this hotel! read more

Super friendly and beautiful hotel on the beach. Best part of the hotel is seeing the beautiful sunset and super bright stars and moon. I stayed here for 8 nights in RM 125 by the pool. Room is kinda small and stuffy without the AC on. I didn't realize I can open the window for fresh breeze until two days before check out. It was kinda loud being by the pool area so I didn't get much sleep. I will definitely stay away from pool area next time. I really like the staffs here, everyone from housecleaning to receptionist goes beyond to welcome you and make you feel comfortable. Evening staff, Manuel, was very quick to print out documents for me at 4 am, which was very much appreciated. I booked half board so the room came with buffet breakfast and dinner. It was very filling and I loved it. I missed my last buffet breakfast because I had to leave early and the staff provided a to go breakfast for me which was very kind service to me. Overall, great hotel and will definitely return in the future. read more

Great hotel. Cozy atmosphere and just off the beach. The restaurant was fine and serves it purpose but can be a bit slow with service. Just a short drive into downtown and naval base is about 5 minutes away. Room prices vary depending on season but aren't overly expensive. If you are military coming on orders they may be able to accommodate per diem rates. read more

Hands down, our favorite of all 5 hotels visited this trip, and we had pretty fun hotels in Spain and Portugal! Above this, Playa de la Luz has to be one of my all-time favorites, as well! Tennis and beach, tennis and beach! Mix in Spanish culture and cuisine, with a really friendly staff, and great views, and 10 stars for me. Every room we saw had a balcony or patio. Patios were larger than balconies, fyi, but of course those are all ground floor rooms. Views included, the tennis courts on the northern side, beach/ocean on the southern side, a courtyard on the western side, and the pool / common area for the interior rooms. I can imagine during high season, the outside-facing rooms are quietest, but you will be in the center of all the action if you have the interior view of the pool area. Our standard room was spacious by European norms, and absolutely did the job. Our added patio space almost doubled the living area. Bathroom was marble-tiled with a full tub, which was great! Mini-fridge was empty to allow us to store snacks and breakfast. Free Wifi with strong connection!!! Amenities included several tennis courts, large swimming pool, baby pool, health club, gift shop, and bar / restaurant. Wifi was very strong and a fast connection. We had free parking in a hotel lot just near reception. Room rates were really good during the off-season when we stayed. February temperatures were in the mid-50s, with bright sun. You can walk all the way into town via the beach, roads, or the Camino Natural de Rota, connecting to the Paseo Marítimo de la Costilla. In the other direction are the Roman fishing corrals, and a park, with great pagodas along more of the Camino Natural de Rota. The hotel has a restaurant and bar, but we did not have a room service menu in our room. They did allow us to take drinks back from the bar. Reception staff was very friendly and laid back, which was the predominant feel of the club. It had a very relaxed beach resort feel, with beautiful aesthetics and Spanish charm. I had visited this hotel over the years and one thing is stays the same, it feels like home! The Staff is really friendly, the amenities are plenty and the location is outstanding. The hotel is modern and yet it has a historic feel/decor in most areas. I got a double bed this time and while I'm not a fan of doubles, it has become the standard in European hotels. The pool and garden areas are always in prestige conditions. The bar and restaurant offer a great selection of products and services with affordable pricing. Unfortunately I haven't been able to utilize the spa services, however it looks very nice with a wide variety of services. This is a great place to stay and relax. The beach is always pretty and kept very clean. One the best hotels to stay at Rota. I'll be back no doubt! read more

Beautiful beachside hotel. Was able to secure unbelievable rates off-season and really enjoyed my time in Southern Spain thanks to the hotel staff, the beautiful property and fantastic weather. Heated pool. Steps from the beach. Very nice breakfast. 2 hotel bars that have solid food and are ran well. Cheap beer. On-site bike rental, and downtown Rota is a gorgeous 10 min ride via the beautiful beachside parqueway. read more

Decided to book this hotel as I had previously stayed here once before. It was during the off season (February time frame) so the hotel was almost completely empty. Located right on the beach, you can exit the hotel property and go for a jog along the beach. There are also several restaurants within walking distance and the downtown area of Rota is only about a mile walk. The hotel staff was very friendly. The room was also just fine (was only in a standard). I had stayed in the upgraded rooms that were much bigger with more space that were quite lovely. read more
