She pretty much runs the place by herself - cooking, serving, and visiting with guests, so don't expect American-style in-and-out. However, if you want an authentic French dining experience in the Northern Dordogne, you should check it out. Genevieve speaks enough English to share the details of the meal, from the origin of the wine to how she prepares the delicious foie gras. There is also a pretty patio for outside dining when the weather permits.

We snatched a table close to the Watermill. Our plan was to start with some cocktails and possibly have dinner after. 3 ordered Champagne and I ordered a Champagne cocktail. Comprised of Cognac, Cointreau, Angostura Bitters & Champagne. Something different, refreshing and delicious! The Champagne was enjoyed also. Great atmosphere and vibe for a cocktail. Watching the flow of the lazy river and enjoying beautiful Brantome. Our server started out strong but somehow disappeared after bringing us our drinks which was a disappointment. We ended up paying in front at reception which is the normal process. Our server did thank and acknowledge us as we were leaving so semi recovery. We inquired about dinner but they were booked. Looked like it could be good. So reservations are recommended for dinner. Great spot for a drink with a view!

Our first vist was when a group of nine of use were looking for lunch at 1.45 in the afternoon which can be a risky pursuit. We parked in the car park next door to the restaurant and despite it not looking all that pretty from the outside we dived in fearful we would blow our last chance to eat for a couple of hours! The dining room was really well lit and spacious with large windows that allow a breeze through if it gets warm. The food and service were excellent despite our party having a confusing mixture of different menus, just plats and kids' meals all the orders were taken efficiently and the excellent food delivered quickly. On our second visit there were only five of us (two adults and three children) and again we had a mixture of menus with the kids all having starters from the buffet which has fresh crudites, salads and charcuterie on it. All the food was superb and once again the service friendly and efficient.We all had ice creams with the grown ups having wine and beer and the total bill was less than 80 Euros. This restaurant is very obviously a family affair and seemingly a lot of pride goes into making it a success.
